Is myofacial pain syndrome the same as fibromyalgia?

I just wondered as my daughter had this written on paperwork that she came he with from hospital with a few months ago I have just been wondering is she is due to have injections in hrt cervical spine again soon as she has a congenital c spine problem where bits of spine are roughly fused but she had bad pain and headaches etc,I am going to the pain clinic with her next time in Sept as she is I'm a lot of pain and taking 3 prossc a day and working full time .

Is fibromyalgia and myofacial pain syndrome the same or similar thing?thanks Sandy.

It's not the same, but it's complicated.

Before the term 'fibromyalgia' was coined, the term 'fibrositis' was used for what we now call fibromyalgia AND myofascial pain syndrome.

Myofascial Pain syndrome is also a common symptom for people with Fibro. But it is also a condition in its own right that you can have without having Fibro.

Cervical cord compression or positional cervical cord compression can cause or worsen Fibro symptoms also.

Ah ,I see what you mean.
