I opened the curtains to look and see
The sky was overcast it was grey
Has it been one day or perhaps three
This time how long have I been away
Three full days to widen the crack
Willing each breath to be my last
It’s so hard to take this journey back
To have to break the fast
My heart is torn and shattered
As I take this ragged breath
My soul if had one is tattered
My one only hope is death
Painfully I drown in sorrow
No strength left for the fight
I have no wish to greet tomorrow
Or see the morning light
They say it takes time to heal
But have they walked in my shoes
Have they tasted the bitter meal
Of abandonment and abuse
