Hiya Mattjam,
I go and see a consultant at the Respiratory Clinic but haven't had any 'sleep overs'
My RLS was so bad for so many years that my GP referred me to Papworth and I was put on Ropinirole purely for the RLS and after a while it didn't work the same for me so I was put on Gabapentin as well as that and for now, it seems to work well for me. I go to bed and sleep well if I remember the tablets :(.
I was only sleeping for about 3 hrs a night and as I work with children for 10 hrs a day, I was feeling so tired.
Sue
Hi Sue, sorry to go off subject, but can I ask.. Did you have any side effects from the Ropinirole ? I ask because Rich has been prescribed this , he doesn't suffer from RLS but a similar thing ( can't recall the name right now ) and he won't take it in case there are side effects.
His muscle spasms at night are driving me loopy , I don't sleep well at the best of times , so I'm hoping if I can reassure him, he'll give it a go !
xx
Hi Helen,
None at all, I rarely get side effects from drugs, not sure if that's just me being 'lucky'
I found them really good, they worked so well I could have kissed the doctor. But it was a woman and she really wasn't up for it for some reason!
They worked for probably over a year but then I needed something on top of those and got the Gabapentin. I absolutely must remember to take my Ropinirole at certain times every dayas if I miss some, I really suffer, my legs jerk terribly, even during the day. I just take the Gabapentin before bed with the Ropinirole and sleep better than I have for a very long time.
He can only try them Helen. I was put on Pramipexole before the Gabapentin and they made me feel really sick. xxx
Hi Sue, thanks for the info . I've passed it on to him and hopefully he'll now get the prescription filled and I can have some peaceful nights without feeling like I'm on a boat !
Seriously though, I do feel for him because the muscle spasms stop him getting any quality sleep . It isn't just his legs that jerk, it's all of his muscles , but only when he's asleep. I still can't remember the darn name of the condition he has , I'm blaming the FOG !
xx
hi my sleeping is horrendous but i have never been one to want alot of sleep so i am not surprised i only needed about 5/6 hours anyway but 1/2 is ridcu;ous and i dont nap in the day my partner says i do fall asleep on sofa at times in evening but i am more awake and aware whats going on so i dont think for mre personally a sleep clinic would do much for me but thats me my sleep is due to my fibro as in thre pain the pressure points etc buy good luck you never know they may come up with something for you love diddle x
Havn't been to a sleep clinic but know what you mean about feeling exhausted all the time. I only went to town today for just over an hour and was exhausted when I came home. At one stage I didn't thing my legs were going to carry me back to the carpark but I did eventually make it.
They do say with fibro though that you don't get the quality sleep you need so be interesting to see what they say. Take care for now, Angela xx
Thanks for your comments x I also have two children and work so i am as much use as a chocolate fireguard when i get in. Been advised now not to drive which is a joke as i am an hour and a half from a bus service!! Oh well we will see what this brings, more than two hours would be nice even just for a little while xx
