Does anyone know if you can still carry on driving if you are getting PIP?I suffer with anxiety on top of painful joints, and I really need my car but I'm applying for PIP. I wonder if they will take away my licence. I only drive when I'm having a better day .
Any advice would be welcome.
you can still drive and PIP with motablity component means that they could give you a car with adaptations.

Yes you can, I told the assessor I drove about 3 times a week, and that I have an automatic car.
Hi, yes you can still drive if you are awarded PIP, if you get the higher mobility this will allow you to apply for a car with adaptations. I purchased an automatic car many years ago because I could no longer physically drive a manual due to the pain when changing gears etc and have driven an automatic ever since. Never an issue with PIP.

Of course you can but my advice is do not contact the dvla because they will air on the side of the caution and suspend your license until you can get a doctor's report that you can drive. You will then have to declare that when you start driving again on your insurance which will push your insurance up. So in short, if it is not affecting your driving when you feel capable of driving do not say anything.
Yes you definitely can. There are specific conditions in the DVLA website that you have to report to them and even if you have those it doesn't necessarily result in removal of your licence. But to reassure you, the DWP has no control (at the moment) over your driving licence. Hope that helps.

There are certain medications which would be a no-no for driving. it would be a good idea to ask your doctor.
