Celebrating our Board of Trustees, who provide an example and inspiration to us all. Des, Janet, Helen, Glen, Duncan and our newly appointed trustee, Tracy are the people responsible for the overall running of the Charity and making the big decisions.

Charity trustees are the people who are legally responsible for the overall management and decision making in a charity. They are the volunteers who run the charity and who make sure that the charity only does what it was set up to do and that it is run in accordance with its constitution. This includes

• keep the charity within the law. In addition to charity law your charity may need to comply with other laws and regulations such as employment, discrimination, gaming, health and safety, data protection etc

• manage the charity’s finances and affairs sensibly and wisely. You are being trusted to look after the charity’s assets for the future

• manage people including the supervision and support of volunteers and staff

• manage resources such as property, equipment, vehicles and computer systems

• act in the best interests of the charity, never in the interests of yourself or another organisation

• work closely with other trustees to oversee and manage the running of the charity.

• be actively involved in decision making, attend meetings regularly and contribute to discussions

• monitor the work of the charity to make sure so that you know that it is meeting its legal requirements and is actually meeting the needs of the people it was set up to support

Taking on the role of a Trustee is a big responsibility – and we say THANK YOU to our Board of Trustees for the hard work they do

Thank you all. Having somewhere you can go in your darkest days where you will find compassion, understanding, insight and really nice people who “get it “ is invaluable. The chink of light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. Wishing you all the best.
