hi there I’m new here, i didn’t know these forums exsited until my gp advices me on joining. I’m hoping I can get some advice from you lovely people who are also suffering with this day to day !
I’m currently going through a divorce, I’m a single mum to 4 with support from my family. I’m really struggling to get motivated I got diagnosed with depression in September this year and it’s just got worse by the day, my fibro flair ups are so regular where as before I could go a couple months without one and manage on the medication I’m on , but it doesn’t seem to touch me and my gp just doesn’t seem intrested. I’ve suggested trying morphine patches but they won’t entertain the idea and just keep trying me on other medication which isn’t helping. If anyone has any ideas or stress management help that would be great!

Hi and a warm welcome to the forums. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our website fmauk.org and our patient information booklets at fmauk.org/publications
morning. Sorry to hear this. Try and manage your stress levels, difficult I know with the divorce but stress will exacerbate the flares. You don’t mention what meds you’re on, but have you tried Duloxotine? If there is somewhere near you, you could try hydrotherapy, I find that really helpful Stay strong
Welcome Skye1988I have fibro and other autoimmune disorders.
Like you I raised my children alone.
As mentioned in other reply managing stress is so important. It is possible you have experienced trauma in your life that has set your body on high alert.
You could consider talking therapy like counselling. Depression can be isolating, would a group like Mind help?
My kids have now flown the nest and I have a supportive man in my life. I am now much older than you but my fb is under control.
Surround yourself with relationships that sustain not those that drain.
Everyone has their own journey,I wish you well with yours.
thank you for replying , it’s been very stressful . The last couple days have improved as I have tried my hardest to try and manage my stress levels, I’ve set a new routine for night time once the kiddies are in bed so I’m hoping it will help. ! X
Hello and welcome, this is a great forum too join , lovely members. good advice , I can only imagine your flares will be more regular as not easy going threw a divorce and young family, I am glad you have family behind you. Keep at it with meds. We always say trial and error, perhaps see another doctor if you feel you are not getting the right help, they have a duty of care xx
Hi there!firstly welcome to the club👍your joining the ranks of like minded and feeling souls who won't say but you look fine to me or so what exactly is wrong with you?🤦we know what's what and feel your pain and frustration with yourself and others sometimes😭What your dealing with at the moment is quite enough without flare ups, fatigue and pain, doctors can be unsympathetic and it's your right to see another doctor who's more clued up,medication wise if your in pain it's important they get this under control for you as it will make your stress and depression worse, motivation is a real problem for most of us,you do things then suffer, mood suffers, frustration, pain, vicious circle so get those docs kicked into touch, you need help pronto!😮👍good luck🌞
