RTT therapy

I have in the past carried out some research into RTT - RAPID TRANSFORMATIONAL THERAPY. Founded By Marisa Peer.

I am interest to learn if anybody has experience of this treatment and the impact on their symptoms.

The internet will reveal much about how this therapy works.

Here is a blog post if you want to know more.

Please contact poster for the link.

No clinical trials OR good sources of info on how it could relate to fibro. Also the blog post reads like many remarkable sales stories and the "Apply for your free Clarity Call" Call to action is telling.

"I’m a channeler, mystic, writer, and energy healer who helps women release blocks and shift their energy using channeled messages and healing frequencies to open the path to clarity and guide them in the direction of the highest version of themselves. "

I don't think those clinical trials will be along any time soon.

This is obviously not a cure for me (wrong sex) so I will not comment any further

This quote is not about Marisa Peer, it is from a site by a Laura Lee, who also uses "RTT", probably the now deleted link. That alone wouldn't yet tell me RTT itself is all bad. I think does-the-NHS-work you just singled out a bad link, if you read on...:

Looking around further, like Des has said there's quite some money being made with the brand Marisa Peer / RTT. Also mixing known psychological methods (see below) together under a trade mark/brand is for me something I'm not going to give money for.

But there are also loads of videos by Marisa Peer herself on youtube about nurturing self-esteem, which is something most of us need, to be able to self-care better. And I have to admit whilst I'm quick to puke when listening to motivational coaches, I do find she's OK and what I listened to was not wrong at all, esp. for people who need more self-esteem, suffer from anxiety, unhappiness etc.

And looking at what RTT is apparently based on: "hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, cognitive behavioral therapy, neuroscience, and neuroplasticity", most of these I'd say have quite a bit of evidence for pain management and fibromyalgia - with the exception of NLP, something that goes off track, but some of those techniques may be helpful to some extent and for some.

Quite on the contrary these are all things that are definitely being underused by patients, which is bemoaned by researchers. And the sex isn't relevant to any.

And back to costs: psychotherapy is effective, but expensive and not paid for enough by insurances, so if someone is writing books and sharing lots of videos, that makes it available for everyone, and reduces the threshold, without paying for the brand / name.

Thanks for your insight on this subject. I agree private health is not cheap and is beyond some individuals budget.

My experience with Fibro, I think kind of surprised me. I initially started with severe morning pain and the other symptoms fatigue, bit of memory issue. Over time I found only the short term relief from the normal drug list of antidepressants SNRI, SSRI and TCA and anti-epileptic medicine such as pregabalin but little or no reduction in pain.

Forward wind a few years and you have more experience of triggers and symptoms to reflect, there is a benefit of long term illness!

Anyhow, the therapy of wellbeing, CBT and Pain management techniques that I tried started to give me at the least clarity to understand mind = mood. or vice versus.

On reading other reports and studies I see the topic of TRUAMA and fibro pop up, PTSD, this started to interest my pain was extreme at sleep, in fact my dreams were all traumatic or anxious and in particular a series of childhood memories that were traumatic.

The link for me is that dreams are subconscious as opposed to the conscious like me writing this now I know what I want to do as I am in the moment, yet when you are sleeping events resurface with out thought.

This said when I started to make my diary of triggers their was a direct relationship with my dreams, you may not realise this if you start your diary at first but over time things start to make sense.

So, back to RTT, this is a mix of therapies as you know, it involves hypnosis, not the stuff they do on the TV like Paul McKenna, where they seem to knock you out. This hypnosis is guided medication, similar to sleep hypnosis, taking control.

The other main point is regression analysis, taking you back to a previous time in your life, in the hope this will uncover the issue and release this from your unconscious, this is used for individuals to stop smoking and other phobias too.

The term intensive with the RTT is that the treatment is over 28 days, It starts with an in depth inquiry form, asking for triggers, habits, symptoms, a few other questions on your lifestyle now but also some big emphasis on your childhood.

1 week before your face to face treatment with a trained professional you receive a recording to prepare you for the day, (min 2 hr session), when you leave you take a recording of the later part of your treatment to play over the next 21 days, after the 21 days another meeting with your therapist and you should be on your RECOVERY.

Recovery is a interesting thing to note as in Mental Health NHS) recovery is the buzz word as it is thought that you may always be in recovery, most of the time you are fine, but you can expect the odd relapse, hopefully just less.

I thank you for sharing your thoughts on this subject, and I have given a lengthy reply for others to read in general.

I have since my post on this forum booked a session, It cost £500. and I will let you know how it goes.

The other thing is that this type of therapy does suit me, as I have a few years of hypnosis medication and I respond well, so my advise is to anybody else is try the hypnosis medication, there are loads of free stuff on Youtube, try a few different people as I find some voices are better for some then other's.

Hi again: Yep, I'm very interested to hear your results & conclusions.

Personally I've got earlier traumatic experiences, phobias etc. worked out, and use many relaxation types (esp. Yoga Nidra with the voice of Ally Boothroyd, works even better for me than self-hypnosis). All the same it's helpful for me to sort out further any current stressors as well as understand "where I am" better, so I still do a bit of psychotherapy with someone who knows their way around trauma and pain/fibro much better than 3 others I tried.
