Low Level Laser Therapy for Fibromyalgia

Hi, I posted in the RA group asking about LLLT for pain management to see if anyone had tried it. I have struggled to see reviews online that felt that genuine. A lot of great videos made by the company that do a home device.... for a lot of money. I'm not saying they're not genuine but when they're made by the company they're going to be pretty positive! Anyway, I have since decided to go ahead and try the product on a 60 day trial. I wanted to make sure I gave it a really good go and record a series of videos to show others my experience of it. Good or bad. It may or may not work for me and be different for you but we all spend hours in pain googling things sadly so I thought it might help someone. By making videos it'll make sure I'm accountable for doing it!! If you're interested here are some links. An article about it, a video what it is and my videos. I will try and keep updating as I go along.

Interesting. I’ve been looking at these too. Keep posting on YouTube and I’d be keen to know how you get on. X

I had LLLT for years from an osteopath. Cost a small fortune (double what you suggested!) but I was in agony when I started and couldn’t move my neck or sleep at all. It was extremely helpful for neck shoulder knee and back pain. I only stopped when Covid hit. He got me to a much better place and I avoided a series of spinal surgeries with his help. All I know is that you wouldn’t be able to purchase the equipment that he has as it would be dangerous in untrained hands. He also used something similar to tens, but more powerful, first. I’m in a lot more pain now that I don’t go anymore, but nit like I was when I started with him. I hope it works for you. I’d be interested in purchasing one myself. Good luck!

Wow that's really interesting. The gentleman I found on YouTube called chronic pain laser has a device called a TQ solo and I think that is a mixture of laser and tens/pulsing. If it's got you to a better place that is very interesting and great for you. Perhaps maintaining that with an at home device could be an option. And more knowledge perhaps treatment on the nhs or at least a discount or something. They're concerned about people being on opiods if this is truly something that may help many people then surely it's worth while helping people afford to have it. Very interesting thank you for replying. I will keep you updated. I've done longer on my back this morning. I'm quite flarey everywhere else I'm trying to work out how I come at my hips with it! But back is doing alright considering what I was like the week before so it's very interesting. X

This is going back about 10 years ago when I was facing spinal surgeries - the physiotherapist said to me that it would never help me and that I should go for the surgeries because they would be using LLLT if it helped. Very little understanding of how these things work. I do hope that things have moved on! Totally agree about these things being more widely available. Much better than drugs! I’ve just had a reaction to a half dose of what my rheumatologist prescribed. Ended up at hospital in a hypertensive crisis! My BP shot up dangerously high. I’d much rather find something other than drugs to help!

I would have a look at this for a critique: quackwatch.org/device/repor...

"The Bottom Line

At this writing, the bottom line appears to be that LLLT devices may bring about temporary relief of some types of pain, but there’s no reason to believe that they will influence the course of any ailment or are more effective than standard forms of heat delivery."

Appears to only harm your pocket which is a positive.

Hi charlie9. I'm thinking of trying LLLT for my fibro and for an osteoarthritic nodule on my index finger (called a Heberden node) that's giving me pain (I found a study that indicated that LLLT could help with the latter). So, I wondered how you're getting on with the LLLT. I went to YouTube to see if you'd posted any more about your experience with it and found that the last time was 11 months ago and then you thought it was helping and has especially helped with an ankle sprain. Also, what LLLT have you been using? I like the idea having one with a stand like you said you laser has, so that I don't have to bother my husband to help me with the treatments all the time. On another forum on another thread I see that you bought a B-Cure laser; did you choose the 'Pro' or 'Classic' version? Many thanks in advance.
