in the family
I have just been told i have fibromya... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
I have just been told i have fibromyalgia both my sisters have it is my daughter at risk?
yes but no guarantee of getting it
me too it's not just a chance that all three of us have it , thanks for your reply
As far as I know there's supposed to be a genetic component for some but I'm the only one in my family that has it, going back and forward. Gene expression is hugely effected by your environment so if you can give her a stable and stress free environment she has a better chance of not developing problems. But that's true for everything really anyway.
My mam also has FM, genetically we are very similar. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, but upon reflection i've had a lot of the symptoms in a milder form since childhood. That dodgy X chromosome also passed down colour blindness! Neither my brother or sister suffer, but my daughter is just 5 and also genetically very similar. She already complains that loud noises (older brother!) are painful, i'm really concerned that she may inherited it also. I'll never mention it to her (self fulfilling prophecies..) but intend to listen to her as much as possible, whatever the ailments.
thank you i think I've had it for a long time too. Would hate to think I've passed it on
