Very stressed and scared

Yesterday I ended up in A and E because I thought I was having a heart attack, 7 hours later they dismissed me in a very exhausted and painful state still having pains in my chest. I slept because I was exhausted but I have woken up this morning with extreme pain across my chest and gagging up flem. I don’t know what to do for the best because everyone in my family has had enough of me and doesn’t want to know when I say I am in horrendous pain. I am still scared about why I am like this and don’t know what to do.

Morning yes I agree phone your surgery now as Rose54 has mentioned it might well be worth seeing if you have an infection, shame hospital didn’t check this before they sent you home, and it’s okay to be scared at the end of the day you need support and start to feel better in yourself, if surgery are busy ring the 111 service for advice I’m hoping a member of your family could drive you to an appointment xxx

Hi, YASMINTINA I’ve been that many times to the doctor in the last couple of days they must be sick of me. I keep getting a stabbing pain around my right collarbone and the pain is so bad it makes me feel even more nauseous than I already am. Also I keep gagging and retching and I feel so sick I can’t eat. Unfortunately my husband is at work and I don’t have any friends no one can take me to the doctor.

I am sorry to read of this there is nothing worse than reaching and feeling sick, sometimes I have found booking into see my female practioner nurses they seem to have more time to speak with you about your current situation and differently show a lot of empathy with us ladies, doctors can be very over loaded with appointments and running late so this is a route I have taken , they can give prescriptions as well, definetly something for this nausea, that’s horrid, is your husband supportive, he must get worried to see you this way, they normally do an evening for later appointments where he could join you for moral support, I have taken my best friend as an extra ear, that has helped me when I’ve been very frightened xx

Hi YASMINTINA, yes my husband is very good to me, he works and then comes home and helps a lot with our kids and the housework, but because he doesn’t obviously like seeing me ill a lot of the time he pretends there’s nothing wrong with me and gets very frustrated when I’m like I am at the moment. Xx

My kids are older than your grandchildren, they are 12 and 19 and my 12 yrs old is such an affectionate boy, he worries a lot when I’m ill which is upsetting to me, but I sometimes can hide how I feel. Tatum Channing look alike would be perfect sigh. Xxx

Hi , could this be a panic or anxiety attack? It mimics a heart attack and can make you sick ! Good luck

sounds like you have costochondritis which is relatively common in people with fibro.

You did the right thing to go get checked,,if they ruled out anything sinister then g.p next to check for heavy in you respiratory region there have been some nasty flu like virus over festive I had it and my jaws locked..

Did the hospital not do any scans or Xrays?I experience pain and pressure in the centre of my abdomen/sternum area,I believe heart pain generates to the back/jaw and arm.I have just been diagnosed with an enlarged heart which causes pressure on my left side.Have you ever had an endoscopy and an Ultrasound would show any abdominal problems.?,That will show any gastric/oesophegeal conditions.I also have Costochondritis.

Indiemusicfan in reply to

They did an x ray of my chest but that was all. I had an endoscopy quite a few years ago but nothing showed up at the time.

in reply toIndiemusicfan

I would ask your GP to arrange an endoscopy and ultrasound to see if anything is going on.

Sorry to but in but I have codtochondritis which seem to be the same symptoms. Take care Lynne xxxx

I do not think it is good practice for an A&E department to discharge you with such severe pain without giving you ways to manage it when you got home. If you are in pain ring 111. You shouldn't be left in pain like that without any analgesia. That's the priority for you at the moment. x

Indiemusicfan profile image
Indiemusicfan in reply tobobbybobb

No your right pain management is definitely a priority, but I imagine that like every A&E department in the country ,my local hospital was understaffed and one of the nurses even admitted to me that it was like a war zone in here tonight because they’re were so many people waiting everywhere, parents with babies sitting on the floor because there were no seats, absolute chaos. X

in reply toIndiemusicfan

when i was taken to A&E at 3am with abdominal pain -the waiting room was quite busy,I didnt feel i got all the care i should have. Was sent home without any pain relief and an endoscopy appointment but the abdominal pain was overlooked because the triage nurse did not record accurately my symptoms.Too many A&E depts being c losed or changed to minor injuries -=placing more burden on the A&E depts, both hospitals A&E's are 50-60 miles away.

Indiemusicfan profile image
Indiemusicfan in reply to

Yes , it is happening to too many A &E departments although my council are threatening to shut my hospital down altogether and the other little cottage hospitals nearby and build a “ super” hospital further away from where I live.

in reply toIndiemusicfan

where are you in the country. It sounds so similar to where i am, and where i used to live,.My local hospital was reduced to minor injuries from A&E.They built a new hospital inthe south of the county -still around an hours drive away or more. For years the council have promised a new local hospital -though not necessarily with any more facilities-as they could not agree on a location and the location they did decide on was on a leisure centre playing field-because they thought building the hospital next to the lesiure centre a good idea,it has been decided to build it on the existing site which is in town which was the original plan.Where i used to live they closed all the A&E depts to one main hospital which meant people had to travel greater distances and a burden on that hospital's A&E.They eventually reopened A&E at the hospital in the town I lived in.

I didn't know the Councils were involved in the running of the NHS in UK, but it is definitely in a mess!

Hello indiemusicfan good evening. You could have GERD Gastric Reflux disease. Do you get heartburn and access gas and wind and stomach aches as well as clear phlegm?

Indiemusicfan in reply toDen1987UK

Hello Den1987UK, yes I do it’s terrible I burp continually throughout the day and cough a lot especially at night. I assumed the pain was down to my fibro which is like a burning pain in my chest.

Hi Indiemusicfan

I had similar to this and it turned out it was gallstones and inflamed gallbladder. The pain started originally after eating but progressed to being almost all the time. I tested positive, and was treated for h pylori, but pain continued on and off. Scan then showed the gallstones. Definitely a good idea to see your Gp I think, or a practise nurse as someone else suggested. Good luck with getting help with this. I have had costochondritis too, but that did not make me feel nauseous.
