Hi. I was diagnosed 4 days ago with fibromyalgia. I also have reflux, hypothyroidism and until recently, i was hypo adrenal but i was cleared with this at the beginning of the year although my endocrinologist now wants to see me again. I am not on any meds for this yet, only the meds for already diagnosed illnesses. Ive just had some blood tests and i am awaiting to see a pain specialist to advise. I have joined this site for help / advice and support. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Im 50, married and 2 kids 14 and 13.

Sorry I missed your post first time around. I once lived in Cornwall before moving here to Crete on retiring ... Like you I have Hypothyroidsim - caused by Hashimotos - diagnosed here in Crete in 2005 - 5 years after a Fibro diagnosis at Treliske with a Private consultant. Must say as my thyroid treatment improved the fibro pains ebbed away and I have learnt so much about the thyroid tests that are needed. Sadly the NHS only test the the TSH and occasionally the FT4 but rarely the FT3 - which is the most important. So how much levo are you taking ? My muscles are still very painful in areas around all major joints and in the spine. I am now T3 only Having optimal levels of T3 - the ACTIVE thyroid hormone - needed in every cell of your body - can help to soften the fibro pain.
I am wondering if you have had the following tests done - B12 - Folate - Ferritin and VitD ? they all need to be optimal and not bumping along the bottom of the range. B12 is good around 500 - Folate and Ferritin good around mid-range and VitD good around 100. When Hypo absorption is affected of the vital nutrients and levels need to be good for your thyroid hormones to work well - both the ones you take and the ones you produce !
I have been on Thyroid UK for over 7 years - here on HU - over 94,000 members and a wealth of knowledge to keep you on track. Acid Reflux can be a Hypo symptom - due to low acid - but is routinely treated with PPI's as the symptoms for both low and high acid are the same. Taking a PPI can inhibit the uptake of B12 in particular.
Apologies for the information overload - oh - always obtain copies of all your results with ranges - they are legally yours. You can then monitor your own progress and check what has been missed !
low phosphate to boot aswell, but self medicating for that with diet..ie bananas and eggs.
Recent bloods were ok. im on 75mg levothyroxine which i have been told is the right amount. I was informed that this will go up in time with blood tests to check levels periodically. im taking 1000ug b12 supplement aswell as my b12 is borderline. Acid reflux - ive had for nearly 25 years, with fibro only being diagnosed last year. Im on omeprazole 20mg once a day which keeps it at bay. My OGD showed that the oesophagus going into the stomach is almost straight with no 'u' bend to keep the acid down.
You need copies of your results to see where your T3 is as it is the ACTIVE thyroid hormone - needed in every cell of your body. Fine is an opinion rather than a result ! Your TSH is good at 1 or under and the FT4 & FT3 in the upper part of the range. Is that where your results are ? PPI 's are designed to be a short term treatment and long term can cause other conditions. Maybe read up on low thyroid and GERD 😊
