Pain and depression control.

I tried to work off my depression by gardening, it worked, but as usual my pain levels rocketed. I took 20mg morphine and two Solpadol. I t did not work too well but once moving I was able to carry on. when I was about half an hour from finishing I repeated the 20mg morphine and two solpadol this worked quite well and allowed quite good movement without any really severe pain. Taking that much in quite a short period of time affected me by revving me up, so I did not feel sleepy and was quite grumpy to Jan. Some hours later the pain is returning and I feel a little sleepy so I am hoping I get to sleep before the pain makes it impossible. I really do not think that I should any more morphine so if I cannot sleep I will have to resort to a couple of Solpadol. In the past I used to take them but increased the dose with another 60mg of codeine on top, ok for a while but can constipate you ! Feels like I am with Zebedee on the magic roundabout !

I am the same, the gardening is like a walking meditation, but then I really suffer, even if I’ve hardly done anything. God Bless you, Emee

Thank you Emee, I return the blessing to you. It is so debilitating and an "invisible" problem like fibro does not attract any empathy. I hope you can control your pain somehow, unfortunately I have no real suggestions, God Bless !

Thanks Chris, yes waiting for the onset of almost inevitable pain is not good but to keep still and do no exercise is much worse.

I think you are doing well gardening at all.I have to leave that to my husband as anything cripples my hands.I find getting out of the house is a must thou although you get the one or two people asking"oh are you alright now".it's waste of time educating them.

I like to get out and walk when possible with my husbands help.am shattered but happier

I agree, any exercise is better than none. I have widespread Fibro and Osteoarthritis both I find benefit by movement and exercise. I use gardening as A distraction therapy and can be mainly pain free when gardening. True I can be pretty much immobilised for up to three days after. Thanks for your post, I wish you luck.

Focus on what you have achieved in your garden. That’s a wonderful achievement! Be careful with the Morphine when so desperate for pain relief. My goodness, I know how that feels! Take care.

I woke up late (Midday) after watching F1 I had a look around the garden and was very pleased with it, it gives me encouragement. Thanks for your post.

Thanks for your post, I wish for having my own steam room, I am sure that would give good pain relief and throw in some much needed weight loss !!

I have very severe breathing probs & intense pain in back, neck & shoulders assw big nasty Churg Strauss syndrome. I live alone & have had to finish work 7 yrs ago tho I’m only 56 now. Just me & my cats. I watch hrs of qvc the shopping channel cos I could/can do little else. Richard Jackson has all the gardening shows & demonstrates how to grow on the teeny plug plants. All has full season money back guarantee if they don’t thrive, so, a few yrs ago I thought, well, I’ve got nothing got lose., & I was AMAZED with the results. The yr b4 last I had 420 teeny plugs to tend to.. Pansies, Getaniums, Busy Lizzie’s, Cosmos, Begonias, allsorts! I made up 42 tubs for friends & Hosp staff who have been so kind to me! It took weeks, with a little done each day.. ( Neighbour would put the compost bag beside my chair & bring tubs up after drilling NUMEROUS holes, bless him! ) Last yr I was so bad I had to get a gardener in for the full garden maintenance, which broke my heart, but took a huge stress off my shoulders. I only managed 3 tubs.. for that neighbour & my best friend. She sadly died in Dec but she made me promise I’d see if I could Garden again.. “Just because you couldn’t manage the gardening this yr Rose, doesn’t mean you won’t be able to do a little again..” so I’ve ordered all my favourite teeny plug plants & im having a go.. I have 72 Pansies & 48 Apricot Begonias in trsys in the flat as it’s too cold outside. Geraniums waiting to be planted up, & Cosmos & Cape Daisies & Busy Lizzie’s on the way! I’m having another go, a little bit at a time, with lots of rest ( drives me MAD!) but every little I manage, is a HUGE achievement & that’s what we must focus on!

EVERY ACHIEVEMENT STARTS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY!!

I have this plaque on my wall to keep me going on the oh so many bad days.

Good luck to you. Life can be so hard..

Bravo, it cheered me greatly to see your story, keeping the plaque in view will be great help for you on your down days, I wish you the best in your endeavours. It sounds like you have a whole heap of problems I hope you win and get a well justified reward.

Hi all i was taking 8 solpadol a day or 30/500 codeine at first they really worked but once my body got used to them it did not effect me and pain remained i have over the past few years taking all sorts but nothing has been able to truly manage the pain. I am now free of all oral medication including anti inflammatory i only use the voltarol gel and do yoga once or twice a day.

I am still in pain but no more pain than when taking all the tablets now i just try to manage the pain by not going to mad on a good day and allow myself good recovery times when i do something.

I guess it depends what condition one has as well , dont know if my babbling on helps anyone.
