If you are completing a PIP personal independence form, you will find some great explanations on the internet i.e. CAB's website explains each descriptors that is in front of you in the picture and some suggestions on how you should complete the form.

Otherwise there are organisations that will sit down and help you complete it. They are really complex forms and you need to be so clear and descriptive to stand a chance with the DWP.

This is a pain to fill out! If you struggle with cooking or prepping food etc make sure you tick the write one. I can't hold pans or trays sometimes I have to have help. I struggle to cut food up too and lots other things. Just be honest x

You must consider the safety issues when preparing hot food and indeed all other aspects of living with fibromyalgia, even if you are capable of bathing cooking etc is it safe to do these things unaided or without supervision, I don't claim anything myself but I do think the safety issue is overlooked. Sorry I cant be of more help. Lou x

Hi Samantha Jayne, it's asking you what you are able or unable to do. Think carefully before you answer but answer truthfully.

Sorry we can't see what you ticked in answer to the descriptors so unfortunately hard to help you. I am presuming that the assessor felt you had no real difficulties in preparing and cooking food so is that contrary to the evidence you gave them?x

Hi Samanthajayne

I used to many years ago assist people in filling out forms like this. Basically they want to know how dependant you are on others in the preparation of food. You get assistance according to your needs on a point system. The more points you score the more dependant on others you are.

Hi there SamanthaJane From looking at the photo this is showing you have already had your assessment and these are the points they have given you for the things you can do and the things you can not do. Do you disagree with what they have said ?

The photo you are showing is saying you did not tell them you had any problems making a meal and when they saw you they agreed . I can just see a bit of a tiny circle on the right and I think I can see a dark mark this would be a number I am guessing. This is the points they awarded you for that question. I hope this helps.

This question is basically asking you if you need any help at all when preparing food whether you can lift pans etc. Safely so if you have any problems with your hands really that stops you from being able to prepare a meal or lift a saucepan with hot water say when cooking vegetables. If you do have any hand problems then you needed to tick that you are unable to do whichever one applies. If you feel unsafe lifting heavy pans then again you say so if if you have any aids thag help you to I have a little basket thing that I am supposed to put into the saucepan then put veg in and lift the basket out when cooked so means I am not lifting a saucepan with boiling hot water in it. But I can't lift the saucepan with cold water in so have to have someone help as I have OA in my hands and have just had further surgery.

If you aren't happy with what they have commented on your forms after your f2f then you can appeal.
