Chronic pain

I'm becoming increasingly frustrated that the pain in my shoulder is not improving. It's been chronic for months. I'd pinned my hopes on an appointment with the surgeon, waited six months for a return appointment and then they cancel with 24 hours notice! New appointment next month!! If they don't cancel again!

I've lost most of the fine motor in my hand and haven't been able to dress myself on the upper half in a year! But it's not urgent apparently. Work is exhausting in constant pain but the need to eat means no more time off sick. Is it any wonder fibromyalgia sufferers end up with depression which comes after the diagnosis and not the cause as some doctors would have you believe?! I've avoided claiming PIP as I saw it as an acceptance that I wouldn't get better and my aim is to be able to function normally without chronic pain. I've booked an osteopath appointment against the GP's advice as I need something to work. Has anyone found osteopath treatment useful?

Hi Jan1964 I am so sorry about the pain you are having it can be very exhausting and soul destroying.

I think you have amazing strength to keep going under such pain and frustration.

Trying any treatment is always a good idea and it is a special so if they thought you wouldn't benefit they wouldn't see you.

Good luck my friend

For heavens sake! What DO they class as urgent?

I'm in the same boat regards dressing, only mines the bottom half because of my hips and legs...... can't bend. It is quite amazing how you do find ingenious ways around things to avoid pain. I step into things and pull them up with a grabber. I also bought a great little device called a sock cage which works brilliantly. Then I only wear slip on shoes.

I've been waiting for 6 months in agony some days. I have an appointment with the surgeons in August but I am ringing them almost daily for a cancellation..... no luck so Far! I'm hoping they get fed up with me!

Anyway, best of luck, you are not alone.

Hello, how frustrating and painful for you, no wonder it makes you low spirited.

it does seem that a lot of the NHS do not recommend osteopaths or chiropractors as they say treatment could mask what is actually going on.

However, my husband resorted to a chiropractor after six weeks of intense back pain and a long wait for physiotherapy.

It did cost a bit for a few sessions, but by the time the physio appointment came round he was so much better and could actually walk, not crawl everywhere.

He went to the physio anyway and was refused treatment!

Fingers crossed your appointment will not be cancelled and you get some relief.

Xx
