We are advised to lock our posts because anyone on the internet can see them if not. And not everyone will answer a post that isn't locked, and for your own security really.

Hope this helps.

Robbie's right as there are some strange people out there on the internet and they will often latch on to someone who is vulnerable because of illness so it is for your own safety/

Another reason is that in order to help others we often reveal quite personal things about ourselves in order to either help or show the person that they are not the only one suffering in that way. We might talk about relationships or quite intimate things about our illnesses. If we know it is likely to be read on Facebook or somewhere similar many of us would be wary of sharing our experiences.

I personally was mortified once in throwing discretion to the wind in trying to help someone in trouble only to find my reply in its entirety on another site nothing to do with Health Unlocked.

Even within the forum we have occasionally had what we call trolls but at least we have a reporting button to report the abuse and then the wonderful Admins. take over and bar the troll from the site.x

Hi new-day-tomorrow

I can see that you have had your question answered :)

I just wanted to give you a copy of a link to an easy to follow guide that I have written on how to lock posts:

healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

If you still have any queries, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you.

If you find technology a little difficult (as I know many people do) you can always just comment under your post:

"Lu, please will you lock my post" and either myself or another member of the Admin Team will be happy to lock your post for you.

I hope you find this helpful.
