Not tried it I'm afraid. Looked it up its from the 1960s and appears to be a forerunner of Tramadol a strong non opoid or synthetic opoid. If new to them I would go back to GP and say they don't agree with you, I had to do it with Gapapentin. Omeprozole can be prescribed to protect the stomach when taking strong drugs. I take it as on morphine and Tramadol.

Hopefully someone more informed or who has taken it themselves will answer you.

Take care

Hi Bambi51

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have used Nefopam on numerous occasions and I have never suffered any side effects with this.

Sadly, we all react differently to medication and this one may not be right for you. If you are suffering badly as a result I would let your doctor know and see if they can offer you an alternative to Nefopam.

It can also interact with other medications. Please see below the list of other medications that it should not be taken with from the *net Doctor website:

*Nefopam should not be taken at the same time as monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicines (MAOIs). These include monoamine-oxidase inhibitor antidepressants such as phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, the antibiotic linezolid and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline and rasagiline.

There may be an increased risk of side effects if nefopam is used in combination with tricyclic antidepressant medicines such as amitriptyline or imipramine.

There may be an increase in side effects such as dry mouth, difficulty passing urine and confusion if this medicine is taken with other medicines that have anticholinergic effects, including the following:

anticholinergic medicines for Parkinson's symptoms, eg procyclidine

antihistamines, eg brompheniramine, chlorphenamine

antipsychotic medicines, eg chlorpromazine, fluclopentixol

antisickness medicines, eg promethazine, meclozine, cyclizine

antispasmodic medicines, eg hyoscine, atropine

medicines for urinary incontinence, eg oxybutynin, flavoxate, tolterodine, propiverine, trospium

MAOI antidepressants, eg phenelzine

muscle relaxants, eg baclofen

tricyclic antidepressants, eg amitriptyline.

I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck, and please let your doctor or pharmacist know if you are taking any of the medications listed here my friend. Please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thank you for your thoughts. Got some codeine today instead after a really rough night with my stomach. Have been on omeprazole for a while. Probably hammered my stomach over the years. Telling on me now!!

Bad day today with pain. Took me 2 hours to get round Tesco so bad. I asked for some help from staff who were brilliant as were my ex and best friend who gave me a much needed lift when my car is out of action due to a car crash. Hasn't helped pain for sure. Anyway waffle over. Thanks again.
