Fibro or M.E ?

Hi everyone!

I've not been officially diagnosed but I've been seeing a doctor for around a year and a half now. It's been slow as I moved back home from uni in that time and had to start all the investigations all over again with a new doctor.

Anyway - the first doctor I saw back at uni told me that she thought I had fibromyalgia. However my new doctor now seems more set on M.E. She wants to refer me to the M.E. specialist department rather than rheumatology (for fibro).

I've done research on both conditions and it's only confused me more as most symptoms seem to occur in both conditions!

Does anyone have any advice? My main issues are with widespread pain, muscle weakness and tiredness, muscle tiredness, muscle spasms, but also extreme fatigue.

Any advice is appreciated, thankyou.

Hello and Welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can get support, advice, help and a chuckle or two to raise the spirits.

Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ? Here you can find a wealth of information and links and guides to everything fibro.

If you look to your right in blue you will see Related Posts where you can read other members posts and experiences. You will also find Pinned Posts which will guide you around the forum. In Topics, you will find more information and experiences of our members on various subjects.

I am afraid I do not have an answer to your question, but there is bound to be someone here who will be able to help you.

I do hope we will see you around the forum.

Hi HRH93

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are struggling to get a definite diagnosis and unfortunately there are several conditions that carry a large number of the same symptoms including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome all the way through to Multiple Sclerosis.

It may be best to see the ME specialist and ascertain their thoughts on what you have? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thankyou Ken :) I have now been referred through to M.E so hopefully some useful information will come of that.

All the best
