Has anyone been misdiagnosed with fibro?
There are test they can run to see if ms
The symptoms are very similar, my Sister in law has MS and as Regina said unlike fibro MS shows up in tests. Many of the meds are the same also. Do put your fears to your GP it is your health and needs investigating xx
There are quite a few illnesses that have very similar symptoms to fibro and it is not unknown to be suffering from both unfortunate. As Lou says there are tests that should show if you have MS. Do have a word with your GP take a list of your symptoms we with you so you don't forget any vital ones. Good luck in getting a proper diagnosis. X
You might want to be checked for lupus also.
An mri scan would be the first step in discovering if you have ms, usually followed by a lumbar puncture. As has been already stated many diseases have similar symptoms, it is normslly a case of elimination.
Hi Mistymoos
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so genuinely sorry to read that you feel that you may have been misdiagnosed and I would discuss it with your GP just to have MS ruled in or out of the equation?
My wife, Julie, has Primary Progressive MS, and she underwent a series of mobility and coordination tests followed by an MRI of her brain. It showed that she had lesions on her brain and they diagnosed the MS. They said that because she had so many lesions that it was Primary Progressive.
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with getting the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
My friend with MS knows 2 people that were misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia and later went on to find out they actually had MS, via MRI brain scan.
I also think I'm misdiagnosed and trying to work out how to get someone to listen to me 😢
Get checked out. I was convinced last year I had MS - my symptoms were so similar to my aunt who has it, I had MRIs done and a lumbar puncture (the latter did show O bands but MRIs were clear so MS was ruled out). These are the usual tests for MS (although it can take years for lesions to show up on MRIs...), but I must admit I was vvv relieved that I didn't have it. As someone has said fibro symptoms can be v similar to MS, but there is no lasting damage unlike MS. There are loads of other conditions to rule out before MS - such vitamin/iron deficiencies. I hope you get sorted and I really really hope it is not MS. Sending hugs xx
