Hi it is quite possible in life to have more than one disease in ones body at the same time. The evidence of Fibromyaligia and thyroid conditions lying side by side, as it were is sketchy to say the least.

This site is the Fybromyaligia site and as such we are committed to looking after those are suffering from Fibromyaligia. I would suggest you look up the Thyroid site for any information they may have.

Thank you so much for showing an interest in this particular area.

I know its the fibro site, I have fibro which is why I'm on here. Was simply making comment as I have noticed lots of people seem to suffer from both. Way to make people feel welcome. Not.

Hello Bubblensqueak,

gins wasn't in any way being rude to you and was just stating how things are, and infact trying to be helpful pointing you in the direction of the thyroid forum to help you, not in any way to turn you away from here.

Maybe you would like to consider your response to our hard working volunteer who in the two years I've been a member has never knowingly been unwelcoming to any member of our site, in fact exactly the opposite!

Sending lots of positive vibes your way :-)

Hi BubblenSqueak

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? As far as I am aware there is no medical connection between the two. I have never read any reputable literature from the NHS or BUPA medi-org or online md etc, that connect the two.

It may interest you to know that most of the members on here that I post with also have arthritic problems? I do myself, I have Osteoarthritis in my knees, and Rheumatoid-arthritis in my neck, spine, hips and shoulders. Also in many of the posts a substantial number of members have been diagnosed with Costochondritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis (I have both).

Although Fibro is a syndrome (an illness in it's own right), like many other illnesses, when you are ill you really do become more susceptible to other illnesses.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi there,

I am amazed to hear you say that many of us with Fibromyalgia have costochondritis! I have had terrible pain below my left breast starting at a prominent lump (ribs) for 15yrs+ and was originally diagnosed with costochondritis but I've read that it goes away after a few months. Mine is so bad I'm on MST for it but I'm convinced there's more to it than Costochondritis.

Thanks for a really helpful post, it's really something to consider as I suppose there can be extreme cases of anything.

Hi DizzyDormouse

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?

Many of the members on the forum who have been diagnosed with Costochondritis say they have suffered with it for many years and nothing helps reduce the pain. As it is an inflammatory condition I can truly believe this as the inflammation needs to be brought down for the condition to subside.

I have pasted you a link below from the NHS Choices cache on this issue:

nhs.uk/conditions/Tietzes-s...

It could be that you have something else going on as well? And this is preventing you from getting any relief to the problem? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

This site is one of the most friendly. I'm afraid I don't have the same view of Thyroid UK where people with fibro are sometimes made to feel that their conditions are non-existent and 'really all down to thyroid issues really'. In fact I felt I had to leave there which is a shame because there was also a lot of useful information. If anybody knows another non-judgemental thyroid site, I would welcome it.

That's terrible. I've gone through all the tests for thyroid problems and they all came back normal but I have such extreme fibro and chronic fatigue syndrome that I've been stuck in bed for over 2 years. Nearly 3.

I hope you found a better site
