hi all ive just joined...thanks for having me...i take gabapentin..but ive started to get headaches and feel sick and dizzy...any ideas
Hi. Welcome!! I'm sorry I cant help with this much as I have never had gabapentin. someone else will come on that will have more knowledge than me. just had a look at the side affects it can cause dizziness and headaches which is common on this medicine.

Hello flossie...How long have you been taking Gapa and when was the last
time the dosage was changed? Sick, Dizzy, Headaches...hmm Did you
drink enough fluids? You really have to push the fluids with these kinds of
medicines..Also I am assuming that you take this medicine before going
to bed, not in the morning, Right? ..Now then about the headaches..you can
take Advil or tylenol along with that medicine as long as you are not using
other pain meds. Drink a very large glass of water..when you take the medicine
at least 8 oz..You can do it!!!! Chug, Chug, chug...=)) The "sick might stick
around and if it continues to be bothersome, then get on the phone to the
nurse for further instructions..
There are still some other drugs for you to try if Gapa isn't the one for you.
I take Pramipexole..sometimes that medicine makes me sick..I have
vomited from it at the times when we increased the dosage..but it did solve
the problem..No more RLS..only some breakthroughs every now and again..
lasting a couple days.
If you are on the severe side of headaches and nausea..I would stop the Gapa
until you can call the doctor in the morning.. Keep us posted..Welcome to this

Hi flossie, I was prescribed Gabapentin, but had such awful side effects, & had to come off it. I'm now on Pregabalin & am ok with it. Each med works differently for everyone, but I would speak to my gp & see if he thinks you need to change to Pregabalin.

Firstly Hello and welcome to a wonderful caring site full of lots of lovely whacky people who all suffer the same things. We have lots of useful information and we also have lovely imaginary trips which are basically a silly release and every body has a giggle.
Now if you are having adverse symptoms to Gabapentin do make an appointment with your Doctor and pop in and tell him. There are some alternatives you can take which when you have built up the dosage should be a excellent pain relief. One of those is Pregabalin, I have changed to it and it does help with the pain.

Hi Flossie. Welcome to the site. You will find it a great comfort. I am about to start Gabapentin , I've heard it can have some pretty bad side affects. I'm off work week after next so I'm going to start them then. I hope your side affects ease. I'm hoping they are going to be ok as everyone is different, but I'm not holding much hope.

Gabapentin has helped millions of people.. It will most likely help you to
sleep more deeply and it can take some of your pain level down. I would
give it a good shot....You are going to want to hop onto a scale and keep
track of your weight. Pounds can sneak on easily with that drug...but there
are so many in my RLS (restless legs syndrome) that are using it without
a single problem..to them, it's a life saver.
Hi flossie I used to take gabapentin for my back I had to stop taken it as all I wanted to do was sleep it did help ease the pain but side affect were not worth it sicknrss. Headaches feeling spaced out get advise from your gp and good luck xxshazza

you don't say how long you have been taking gabapentin or what dose, or if you are taking anything else. s really it would be wrong for anyone on here to give advice with no other info.
your best bet is to go and see your GP

Hi i took gabapentin 300 mg last night for the first time and will not take it again. I felt spaced out, sick to my stomach, headache and felt like i was gonna puke. It says to take 3x a day but how can i when i've got a 3 year old? I could barely take care of myself let alone a child. When i woke up this morning i still felt like crap. The reason the dr prescribed this was because they found a cyst behind my knee, also i've got nerve damage on my right leg from a fall. Please help and give me some advice on what i should take? I'm in desperate pain.
