I haven't written on here for a few weeks but, I want to share some positive news.
I have been in appeal for a few weeks now to get placed from WRAG into the support group.
I received a letter a couple of days ago informing me that my appeal has been successful and that as a result they have back dated the difference in benefit that I am due.
I cant tell you what a relief this has been as I was dreading having to attend a hearing.
The decision is for 12 months which means that I do not have to attend another medical for the form that I had just completed due to the fact that at the last medical the examiner had stated that due to my pain and mobility issues she was unwilling to perform a medical examination but that I would be fit for work within 3 MONTHS.
I truly hope that this gives some encouragement to others who may be going through the wholly distressing business of trying to get placed into the correct ESA groups.
I wish anyone in this situation the very best of luck and appreciate all the advice and support I have received from everyone.
Gentle hugs
Nikki xx

Please keep fighting everyone else. If you haven't done so already, please feel free to email info@fibroaction.org and we can send you the Benefits & Work guides for Free
I would like to say PLEASE PLEASE!!! do not give up fighting for what you deserve. It took a lot of determination and it certainly affected my health but it was worth it. I am proof that an appeal does not necessarily mean having to face a tribunal. It helps that I had a very supportive GP who wrote a letter to ATOS. Medical evidence certainly helps so gather as much information as you can and ask your GP to write a letter of support as I am sure like me your GP sees you regularly and will know how your illness/disabilities affect your daily life.
I wish anyone going through the ATOS system the very best of luck and hope you get the result that you are after.
Very well done Nikki!! Must be a huge relief!! I know it's possible too, as I asked for a reconsideration of the decision last year and was successful!! So don't give up hope!
Oh and I must just say that the Benefits and Work guides really are invaluable!!
Well done glad you persevered, I am in the process of appealing to be put to support group from WRAG , I was automatically transferred over from incapacity benefit to the Wrag group. I have sent the appeal details in a few months ago, but all Ive had back so far is a letter acknowledging that they have received my appeal. In the meantime I had to go to my first meeting with an advisor at the job centre. I must say she was very understanding, I told her I was appealing and she asked a few questions and said she would contact me again in a few months. It was nerve wracking though as this is the only the 2nd time in my life Ive ever been in the job centre. This at least gives us some hope.
I think it took about a month to six weeks i think. Initially about a week after sending in my appeal someone from the ESA telephoned me for more and she was very enlightening as she said that the person who carried out the assessment had only mentioned in one word about my arthritis and spondylolisthesis. So she took notes and said she would make her decision and let me know. Then all was quiet for a few weeks so my GP sent a letter and a week later I had the decision, so it definitely helps to have someone be able to back up your claim.
If you havent heard, why not give them a ring to ask about the progress? it couldn't hurt, as it has been quite a while now.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you are successful.
