Keen to hear from others who have gone through a varicocele embolisation. What kind of improvement did you see and when? Thanks!

SA Analysis results before and after varicocele embolisation?

Morning, my husband had this done and it was definitely worth it for us before we headed into IVF.
Pre surgery his worst result from memory was about 12mil per ml and his DNA Frag was 31%. I can’t remember the morph etc but that was usually all in range it was just the count and frag.
3 months post surgery all of it improved, his count I think quadrupled to 40 something mil and his fragmentation went down to about 25%.
Since we’ve done IVF I’ve asked for the count each time and it’s now in the 100mil per ml category so a vast improvement. For us it was worth it so I highly recommend!
I think at the time he also had a semen and urine culture done to look for any infections etc which was clear but gave us extra peace of mind that we weren’t passing anything back and forth.
Thank you so much for this and great to hear it all worked out for you. That is a very impressive improvement! 🙂
Do you remember how long it took for it to go to 100m?
I’m not too sure as after the 3 month test we didn’t test again until we started IVF about a year later. So I assume it was just a gradual improvement every few months.
Pre embolisation it took us over a year to get pregnant which ended in a loss. However after the embolisation we seemed to turn into one hit wonders. Unfortunately that exposed that I have RPL issues so we’ve never got full term but here’s hoping a bit of science helps solve that now x
