I'm wondering whether it's possible or difficult to switch clinics whilst undergoing NHS funded treatment.
As a little back story. We just had our first unsuccessful fresh transfer. OTD was Christmas day. We managed to get 6 blasts. 1 was transferred and the rest the clinic refused to freeze. I had 1x5bc, 2x4bc and 2x4cc. I have really struggled with this as any one of those embryos could have been successful and could have been perfectly viable. Their policy is to not freeze anything with a c in it's grading. So we had to allow all our remaining embryos to perish. I've struggled with this really badly. I pushed but they said it's their policy and it's out of their hands.
The frustrating thing is I have seen people freeze worse graded embryos and go on to have successful FETs.
I am lucky that I get another two rounds funded but I don't think I can let that many embryos perish again. I'm looking into another clinic that accepts NHS patients and I will ask about their policy. But I just wonder how easy it is to transfer funding. Thank you.

Hi lovely sorry for what you have been through I don’t no if you can transfer the funding of the nhs cycle but if I was you and felt that way I would definitely try
Why don’t you ring a private clinic up that excepts nhs funded cycles it normally tells you on there website if they except nhs funding and tell them you have 2 more rounds and maybe they could tell you how to do it or give you some advice
I am so, so sorry to hear what you've been through. It must be beyond devastating. Our clinic also threw our 4CC embryo without even telling or consulting us (although they froze our 4BC and transferred our 4BB). I was so traumatised that I decided I didn't want to go there ever again. I checked with another NHS clinic, but they said that if I want to move I can only do it on private funding. In the end we decided to move abroad. Wish you all the very best and may all your efforts lead to success! Big hugs.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience. The same thing happened to me on my first round 4BB transferred, the remaining three discarded. Resulted in a chemical. I had a second round with them, transferred a 5bb which led to a miscarriage but again had 4 discarded this time. I have felt so angry because I know others have had successful pregnancies with lower grades as you say. I looked into leaving but it is not an option where I live, I would lose the nhs funding esp as we are funded by the military. My plan is next time as it will be my final round is to insist they transfer two of my lower grades and freeze the good ( if am lucky enough to create any blasts) as it would be my final nhs round.
I felt so bad reading your message. I have never heard such happen. My daughter is from a 3bc embryo, she's healthy and doing well. Have you looked into doing a private cryopreservation? That might help, it so saddening to read that such beautifully graded embryos were discarded. I also agree with what merrybrickhelper suggested, that's a good plan. It is better to transfer two and freeze "good ones".
if it’s helpful at all, I was told grading systems can vary between clinics. One clinic’s BC can be another’s BB, and a CC at one clinic could be ungraded at another etc.
Up until recently, I thought any blastocyst would be frozen so was quite disappointed when my 4BC wasn’t frozen. Not sure why clinics can’t be more upfront about this so we can be fully informed or manage our expectations!
