Sorry it’s a long one just trying to give as much info as possible -
We went for our 7 week viability scan at our ivf clinic where they were very concerned to find no heartbeat. We didn’t have any dates or measurements mentioned to us and very little explained and we’re rushed out the door and advised to go straight to our local hospital, which of course we did.
When we got to the hospital our experience being scanned and advice given by the staff there, seemed to be be very different.
the sonographer explained the baby was in a really difficult position and spent 20 minutes scanning us in different posistions before bringing a second member of staff in for a secondary opinion.
Baby was measuring 6 weeks not 7. Fetal pole was there, sac was there, as was embryo, however embryo seemed to be right at the edge of the sack positioned very difficulty inside me and they were really struggling to detect a heartbeat. So basically everything other than heartbeat was present and as it should be and ohh baby measuring a week behind, due to ivf we are certain they should be 7 weeks not 6.
We’ve been advised to come back next Sunday in 9 days time for another scan to see if the pregnancy has progressed and hopefully baby has grew therefore we can get a clearer image. The member of staff was very positive and reassured us they scan lots of people at 6 weeks and have to advise them to return as the baby is too small to detect a heartbeat but that she was happy with everything else she seen and we need to go home and relax.
As you can imagine baby being a week behind and not definite confirmation of a heartbeat due to baby being behind has us crazy beyond frantic •. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone been through anything similar?
