hi, from my own experience, the grading didn’t seem to correlate with the genetic normality of the embryos. The embryologist told me that while the grading looks for certain characteristics, the genetic make up of the embryo is what determines their viability and that is not necessarily reflected by the grading which is based on appearance.
My own embryos were graded 5AB 5 AA but three of them were not viable and did not implant, whereas when I used DE, the grading was ‘less’ I think a 4BB , but worked first time and my little girl is perfect.
I didn’t really ever get enough embryos to PGT test so I’m sorry I can’t comment on that but I really think you have good chance of success and try not to worry too much about the grading. Good luck xx 🍀🍀
I’m rooting for your little fighting embryos! I follow Dr Tim Child on insta, as he does some great live Q&A sessions. I recently asked him a question about whether embryos taking until day 6 (and embryos being a slightly lower quality), mean they are more likely to be abnormal or not. He did say there is a slightly higher chance of them being abnormal, the longer they take to get to blastocyst (ie, day 6 vs day 5) and the lower quality they are, but he didn’t reiterate it’s only a very small percentage difference. So to hold on hope, as there is still a great chance that that’s the one that works!
I had a 4DC (I know, I didn’t even think they bothered with Ds) come back euploid after the embryologist said it was likely none of mine would as they were such bad quality.
We recently did PGTA testing. We had 4 embryos to send off, a day 5 grade c, a day 6 grade a and 2 day 6 grade c. The day 5 grade c and day 6 grade a came back normal. The day 5 grade c had a score of 8.7 out of 10, and the day 6 grade a has a score of 5.1.
My clinic have said that once they are PGTA tested, the grading is sort of irrelevant as that's just a beauty contest really.
The other two embryos both had chromosome 22 issues and are unusable. I'm 39 (until next month) and egg collection was in October just past.
It's a lot. We had 12 eggs, 10 mature, 9 fertilised, all still ok day 3, and 1 on day 5, plus the 3 on day 6. It really is a steep drop off. Hopefully you get a couple of good ones to work with! Xx
We’ve got 7 that are still cells and 1 that’s an early blast so i’m hoping that early blast has developed a bit more overnight xx
It’s frustrating because our clinic is in Greece and we don’t have any direct communication with the embryologist which annoys me. I’ll definitely be arranging some feedback xx Thank you xx
Ahh that’s amazing congratulations xx The furthest we’ve ever got is a with a 4BC actually so I need to give the underdogs a bit more support! I was just shocked yesterday and immediately thought this is game over xx
Im currently sat here waiting to go in for csection to deliver our 4bc embryo. They are little fighters. All our top graded embryos failed to implant or ended in a chemical.
