Edit - HFEA allowed an Oxford Clinic to complete this treatment in 2007, so not new technology, but my understanding is this was so patients who couldn't have stimulation such as those with PCOS could safely have egg collection. Other UK clinics also offer IVM as more natural procedure than being pumped full of drugs.
As regards the rescue IVM, I haven't found anything UK wise on a basic surface Google search.
Hiya, I've come across a procedure called IVM - In Vitro Maturation. Where they collect all eggs as normal and any that are immature are processed overnight in a procedure call Rescue In Vitro Maturation.
The procedure apparently matures most eggs and are comparably fertilised and euploid. However are less likely to produce blastocysts. I'm unsure of any other results. It was a study from the UAE.
I imagine it would be very handy for those with PCOS. But also, those who get very few eggs collected (so none are wasted) and those with lots of eggs and very few mature eggs.
I've only read a little about it (Remembryo - Embryoman), but I can't believe all clinics aren't completing the procedure as standard for everyone regardless.
If anyone has any personal knowledge would be worth a share on here x
