Hi everyone, first time doing IVF. I am 38, I'm on 300 iu meriofert every evening, started on Sunday so had 5 injections so far. Had my scan today and I have 8 follicles. I am now on Ovramex from this morning and another scan on Monday.
My question - is 8 follicles good? She said they go for quality over quantity but I'm just after a bit of reassurance if this is a good outcome so far!

Looking good.I had 10 antral follicles showing befire stims but only 2 good follicles grew to correct size on both my cycles.3 eggs 2 embyros 1st cycle and 2 eggs 2 embyros second cycle.Double transfers both times.First failed second worked and now have a 13month old baby girl.Def quality over quantity in my case.Best of luck.xx

8 is great! Let’s hope they all grow evenly so you can collect as many of those 8 as possible. You might even see more tiny ones come up as you continue to stim.
Objectively, it depends how many children you would like to have. Ideally, you need to collect about 10 eggs to achieve 1 euploid embryo, and each euploid embryo has a 60-70% chance of success. So keep on keeping on, you’re doing amazing x
I only want 1. Your message was good to read. I just turned 43. At my April scan when I was 42, I had 9 before stims. My body is really sensitive, let's see how I react when I start Pergoveris next weekend 🥺 x
Ah, so you’re not 38 years old as mentioned in the original post? Then you definitely have a great follicle count for 42. Wishing you all the best.
Had 7 , ended up with 4 eggs. 3 fertilised normally and 3 blasts. Really poor grades tho ( dont know if its age, pcos or our sperm issue ) that weren't suitable for freezing so we had to transfer a fresh . I'm 37 weeks . It really only does take one. I used to roll my eyes at this comment
I am 31 and had 6 eggs collected last week, all 6 have fertilised and waiting tomorrow for an update on how they’re going. I was super disappointed but at the end of the day I am grateful to have any. After 6 years TTC this is the closest we’ve been to having a baby! Wishing you all the luck and baby dust for your collection x
Yes 8 is a really good number for the stage you're at and age. You may get some more come through but they may or may not be large enough when they trigger - depends how long you stim for. My best round was when we got 5 eggs from 6 follicles and all of them got to blast whereas I think sometimes if you get lots of eggs the drop off is higher as the quality isn't there. But each person and each round is different so just stay positive (and ignore the internet rabbit holes!)
Hi everyone, thank you all so much for replying. I went for my second scan today, I have 11 follicles now and in for my final scan Wed and egg removal on Friday if all goes to plan. Fingers crossed everyone. Really appreciate you all replying xx
