Hi guys,
What is the name of the test you can get that tests your insulin resistance? It's something I'm wondering if I have and if I can just do a finger prick postal test thing to determine...
Anyone else done it/has it?
Thanks!

Think it would be an idea to see your GP/nurse /clinic to ask about this test They know your history and if test [blood test ] is carried out will be able to interpreter the result

I think you are after the blood glucose test HbA1c which can tell you if you are pre-diabetic or have type 2 diabetes. Get it done at your GP surgery.
You will need to speak to your GP as there is blood test you can but you need to be fasting for that. The hb1ac test is a good indicator for insulin resistance but you don't need to fast for that
I had to do one where I drank a sweet drink and they tested after one hour and two hours. My doctors had to request both blood sugar and insulin test and they tested both at each time. It was then interpreted by my reproductive immunologist. She found my blood sugars were fine but my insulin was higher than she would want for fertility so I was put on metformin
yeah see this is what I wanna do! Did your clinic just offer it?
You need your fasting glucose and A1c. Then you can put both numbers into this homa-ir calculator: mdcalc.com/calc/3120/homa-i...
Doctors Lab in Walpole St, London can do a fasting insulin test, you can book it through Medichecks
Hi, I found these informations - " No one test will tell you, but if you have high blood sugar levels, high triglycerides (a kind of blood fat), high LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, and low HDL (“good”) cholesterol, your health care provider may determine you have insulin resistance. "
I've once had this done by GP as insulin resistance can contribute to infertility - I told them that I have some symptoms (frequent urination and thirst, tiredness etc) of the condition and they put in the blood and urine tests for me.
my HbA1C was always normal though I had physical signs of insulin resistance, it wasn't until I had a glucose tolerance test done that they were able to diagnose it. I had that done privately whilst I was in America for 3 months looking after my dad. For some reason my GP wasn’t able to do that test, possibly due to NICE guidelines. She’s happy to prescribe the metformin now I’ve had the diagnosis though.
hello, the test is a “fasting insulin” test - insulin resistance can be missed from the glucose and hba1c tests as your blood glucose can appear normal but still have too much insulin xx
