So after a very long IVF journey (5 rounds, 4 transfers, 2 MC, 1BFN and our wonderful daughter), we decided to go down the Donor Egg route for one last shot at a 2nd child.
I thought this journey would be easier. Eggs from a young, healthy woman, my husband sperm is good, but it is just as stressful.
We purchased 5 eggs. Only 4 survived the thaw, only 2 fertilised normally, and only 1 was perfect at day 5. The last one is being given 1 extra day and we should hear later if it is ok to freeze too.
The one which has been frozen has been graded a 2.1 (a 4BA).
I guess Im just a little disappointed that we havent got more to freeze and that maybe this one isnt of perfect quality.
What does everybody else think of a 4BA?

Hiya! Is 4AB the same as a 4BA? I’m 9 weeks pregnant with a 4AB also using donor eggs and for a sibling for our little boy. Hopefully this is the one for you xxxx🙏🏻🍀❤️
Hi, I know how you feel. I purchased 7 DE from a donor in her early twenties. Only 2 made it to blastocyst and were graded 4BB (lower than my own embryos at age 42) so I was quite disappointed…. But… the first one worked and I’m currently 24 weeks.
I think the genetic age advantage is a big factor. Even though I thought 4BB wasn’t ideal, the embryologist said ‘the embryo has done everything we wanted it to do’ and ‘the grading doesn’t really mean that much, it’s much more about genetic normality’.
Our embryologist said something the same - grading doesn't mean much, it's genetic age that plays a big factor. So, your 4BA actually is a good thing, Mrsjaytee . Best of luck. x
