Nasty bugs/flu after prednisolone?

Hi everyone

I did another cycle in January and they had me on 20mg of prednisolone... Just wondered if it's common to get a nasty bug/infection afterwards which you can't get rid of? I've had stomach flu for over a week and it's awful (passed to me from my son's nursery - he had it first)... I asked the clinic is this normal and they said no... but after my previous cycle I also got a terrible flu and couldn't get rid of that either - I was walking around with fever for about two weeks...

Did anyone else experience this?

My stomach is in agony - just looking for some assurance that I will get better soon/eventually at least! My GP has given me the usual - collect a sample, give it to them so it can be tested... in the meantime I'm in a lot of stomach pain and it's awful...

Thanks

The challenge is that steriods suppress your immune system so your ability to fight off bugs etc make take longer. I wish you well soon x

Steroids can compromise the immune system. Sorry to hear you're unwell. Hope you feel better soon. x

I’ve always taken high dose vitamin d when on the steroids and although I’ve definitely had colds and things never had anything really bad that I can’t shake off (also have a son at nursery) . I had the flu jab too before started on steroids so maybe that helped. Hope you get better soon x

With my last transfer I was on a high dose and I felt the effects in many ways including my tummy/bowels. I was out of sorts for around 3 months after coming off them.

u will feel better soon, ur doing your best and always check in with your Dr if things linger on x

Oh not just me then! Thanks! That’s reassuring! I’ve sent a sample off with the doc…(had dreadful loose bowels as well) - just waiting for results!
