Hi everyone, I have failed in 3 ivf cycles. Last one I had 4 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised and only 1 made it to blastocyst and we sent it to PGT testing. It came out 100% aneploid.
Now, I have started another cycle and NY doctor suggested to continue without PGT testing. Doctor said that we don't have many embryos to test so it is not worth sending one or two embryos to PGT.
I don't know what to do. Soon I will turn 42 and time is not on my side.
Anyone on the same situation?

I was 41 when I tested. Like you I only had one that made it to blastocyst, but I was lucky and got a eupiloid.
I remember thinking about it when they told me there was only one going for testing and wondering what’s the point. Ultimately I think it gave my body a chance to heal from the gruelling retrieval process, however I can understand your doctors point of view. If only one makes it to blastocyst then what’s the point of waiting and incurring the additional costs of testing and FET medication. On the other hand, you need to consider the emotional toll if you get another BFN. And essentially pick the lesser of 2 evils.
Good luck making your decision and if you need to ask me any more questions DM me xx
Hi, such a tough decision. Could you consider embryo 'banking' before sending off? Ie do a few cycles back2back and collect as many blasts as you can before sending off? Chances are a high number will be abnormal, I think over 50% over age 40, so getting a few to send off first is really needed. Plus with my old clinic I paid a certain amount whether I was testing one or six blasts (the set up fee was the expensive bit, so it was the same price!... if that's not true for your clinic though it might be completely different and not worth the extra cost of another egg collection!)
I'd also consider just not testing if it's one or two and just put them back in! Not worth the additional cost at all. It's not 100% accurate, some think they can correct themselves, so unless you have a known factor causing abnormal embryos I'd prob just go for it. Yes you won't know for sure if it fails whether it was the embryo or something else, but there are jo gaurentee in this anyway. I put a fee normal embryos in and still didn't get a positive. My last two were untested and I am pregnant with twins (different situation yes, I'd tested previously and knew I made high numbers or normals) so Chances are they would have come back normal, but we will never know. I just wanted to try them even though the clinic recommended testing with high numbers of blasts.
There is no right or wrong answer here unfortunately that just makes it even harder to decide. Sit with it for a while and see if one feels more comfortable than another. Would you feel too much regret either way?
I am nearly in your position hun, I don't have advice, but, I am sending you all the love and support I can ❤️ Tough is an understatement. If you want to drop me a message just to chat it out, I'm 100% there. 💪
If you do one thing today, do this. Find something that will make you laugh, a silly movie. Dance with your partner. Read the 'Dear Deirdre' section - some of those stories can be hilarious. One day you will have a little more light in your life. Thinking of you xx
