I know this probably sounds silly but I don’t want to give up hope just yet.
My transfer was on the 29th January (I had a day 5 morula as none of my other eggs fertilised)
Is the two week wait post transfer? Or post retrieval?
My clinic told me today was my test day which turned out to be negative. This is only 11 days after my transfer. I had really bad cramps and a little spotting yesterday-could this be a late implantation? I am wondering whether to test in a few days time or am I just kidding myself?
Do I keep the hope alive a little bit longer on this cycle? Or must I face the facts that it isn’t happening this time?

Hi there, the 2WW that people keep referring to is counted from transfer date, which can be around day 3 for some women, or day 5-6 for others. So the 2 weeks window is more or less an approximation but it is the window of time in which we expect to see something if successful.
My FET was on the 29th as well with my testing date today, and mine came negative as well unfortunately. That's my NHS funding all used up. But anyway, unlike you, I knew I was out of the running when my period showed up 2 days ago so it wasn't a surprise.
If your period is late, you should probably keep monitoring the situation. My clinic gave me 2 pregnancy tests and told me that if it came back negative today, to re-test in 7 days. So you should probably do that too, if they haven't advised that already. I wouldn't get my hopes super high, but I keep reading about out of the ordinary experiences, so if your period continues to run late, keep testing every 2 days or get a blood test eventually. Good luck!!!
Did your period come whilst still taking the pessaries then?
I have had a bit of spotting the last few days but it’s not developed into a full blown period yet. My clinic didn’t give me any tests, we paid private through NHS but I only got given a date to test when I emailed them a few days ago. Interesting yours said to retest in 7 days time. Mine said if not positive today then it won’t be.
Oh this is my second transfer and I chose to do a natural FET, so no pessaries for me. The embryo didn’t implant so my period came around the day it was expected.
Right, so my clinic’s leaflet says to stop all medication if negative on testing day, but to re-test in 7 days. Every clinic has a different protocol but if you didn’t get much advice from yours, maybe do the steps recommended by my clinic or see what others recommend too.
Interesting that you’ve had spotting for a few days now but still no positive. I’ve read on these forums that progesterone can hold off bleeding and that the bleeding may come when you stop the medication.
I’m sorry you’re having such uncertainty, especially on your first transfer. The first cycle is always the hardest as you don’t know what to expect and what to do and what is normal. It’s pure hell, but hope you’ll get a definitive answer soon just so you know where to go from here. Xx
Thanks for giving me your clinics advice. I had no advice at all and chased them for information on when to test. All the information I have found has been through Google hence why I wasn’t sure the exact dates of the two week wait as it seems different depending on the clinic.
Yes exactly, I feel at a complete loss as to if I’m doing it right or not. Thank you for helping and sorry you didn’t get the result you wanted xx
I actually came back to check! So sorry to read this! I totally understand the mindset you were in when you posted and there’s always hope when your period is late. Did you get your period in the end? Btw my clinic advised me to test tomorrow as well (7 days later) if negative.
All this is so hard. We had the same testing date, and since then I’ve been looking into how to progress from here (need to go private now), whether to change / add things to my lifestyle and of course planning to try naturally too. It’s only been a week but I’ve had a lot of up’s and down’s. I’m also in the surreal situation where tomorrow I’ll test for both ovulation and pregnancy lol
I hope that you're okay and you can take some time away from all this to focus on your life outside of IVF, meet up with friends, do some fun things, take your mind off it and good luck for next time xx
I’ll be testing just because they gave me the test and told me to do it, but I don’t expect any miracles. And also I can imagine that a positive at this stage can only be bad news requiring some sort of procedure yikes
Anyway, best of luck and hope that the next time works out!
