For those who were taking prednisolene for your transfer-what was your dose and when did you stop it ? I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant on 25mg of prednisolene and should start lowering my dose from next week however I’m worried if the baby is strong enough for me to stop the pills ?

Hi, following, I am also on 25mg Prednisone per day for autoimmune conditions. I was also told to start to tamper it down from 12 weeks (I'm now 9), but I'm having the same concerns as you.

It’s so scary as we already had one miscarriage I’m worried if I stop too early it will hurt the baby.

I understand. I think you could try to talk to an immunology specialist if you have autoimmune conditions. I consulted one and he recommended me starting to take hydroxychloroqine now and continue it until at least 20 weeks, as that'll work after you stop the prednisone, and retest autoimmune levels at 20 weeks and adjust medication then. I'm also doing IVIg every 3-4 weeks, they recommend IVIg or intralipids (cheaper) but I decided to do IVIg every time. That should also help my autoimmune conditions.

However, I'm having a new consultancy soon as I had a bad side effect from the hydroxychloroquine - I'll ask if I can continue taking low dose prednisone instead - I can try to remember to share my immunologist's response here later but remember that that's individual medical advice for my case only.

I was on 20mg and I pushed back on my consultant when he wanted me to start lowering dose down from week 8.5 so I started lowering from week 10.5 and was off them by just under 15wks. I was paranoid too but all was and is well.

For me, when I spoke to another consultant who is at UCLH he advised me that as long as you are on them just over 12 wks as the idea is to prevent miscarriage that’s the main thing. Hope that helps? X

I started very slowly weaning off from 12 weeks and totally finished on them by the time I was 18 weeks. I was terrified but all was well and I’m now 34 weeks 🙏🏼🤞🏼
