Bad skin during IVF

I am having terrible skin at the moment. Since starting on Progynova tablets the texture of the skin on my face has gone very strange, almost a bit leathery in places.

Make up sits really weirdly on my skin now and it’s making me so self conscious. I wondered if anyone else had experienced that and had any recommendations for how to help. I’ve been moisturising more and using serums to try to improve the texture, but as the day wears on my foundation looks worse and worse. I’m not sure if my skin is just really dehydrated or if it’s something else. It feels a bit itchy almost.

Any advice much appreciated!

This should just be short term effect and hopefully settle soon Maybe try not to use too much make up to allow skin to breath Drink plenty of fluids that should help keep skin hydrated Ask clinic/nurse for advice regarding what creams to use

Take care

Hi.

I had hurrendous spots during some of my treatments (like boil ones) which would only go after the treatment was discontinued (due to a failed cycle). Ironically my last two attempts my skin stayed clear and also flourished during pregnancy (the best it’s ever been) so on the plus side it may subside if your treatment is successful.

Good luck!

I have the same really bad skin during treatment and is worse if it’s in the winter I’ve found most creams make it worse (and give me paranoia that they affect treatment too!) so I try to wear make up less which does help but the more my skin looks bad the more I want to wear make up! Weird one by sudocream overnight on any spots or dry patches is the only thing that helps me really and i do sometimes just take off my make up and reapply through the day at work etc. its just the meds though so hopefully back to normal once your hormones are a little more balanced xx

Hi,

I had very dry patches on my arms, also like some sort of tiny lumps under the skin which were extremely itchy from these tablets. My clinic advised to take antihistamines which seem to help through the day. But then after the transfer they told me to stop and skin has gone even worse then. I’m off now for a week after failed implantation and the skin still haven’t recovered. Started taking antihistamines again.

I feel you! I developed rosacea during treatment. I’m convinced it was a combination of hormone drugs, stress and wearing a mask (at work during Covid times) that did it. It might be worth seeing a gp to get it diagnosed and to make sure you are treating it correctly and using the right products. I say that as I thought mine was acne so I used products for acne and actually made it worse. I hope it clears up for you!
