Shared Motherhood / Reciprocal IVF Costs

Hello everyone, myself and my Wife (2 Women) have recently been referred to our local clinic in Glasgow so this is all very new to us! We understand there will be a long wait but wanted to get our ducks in a row so we’re well prepared. Depending on the outcome of our tests we were considering Reciprocal IVF (I would carry my Wife’s egg) and we plan to go down the NHS route so expect this will be charged as extra. However I was browsing a local private clinic which stated this service would cost £10,000 not including sperm donation. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of trying Shared Motherhood with NHS (Scotland) and what cost we should expect? ❤️

hi we were at that same clinic and explored this option on nhs (was a few years ago so things will be different as we could pay for sperm then and now you can’t) but went with me carrying and my eggs in the end. We have recently explored it again self funded at that clinic and the other private one in Glasgow (we aren’t allowed to name clinics on our here sorry!) and cost is between 8-10k it’s between 6-8k if not reciprocal it’s basically the additional frozen transfer that puts the cost up, they both have the price lists on their websites. The new law this year means you have to freeze the embryos for 3 months before transfer to you (they used to time it so an embryo could be transferred fresh but law doesn’t permit that now from June this year!) so that may affect costs a little too but wouldnt expect by much if any.

If you join these 2 Facebook pages there is lots of previous post info on reciprocal in Scotland or for your exact situation you could do your own post💜 they are closed groups none of your fb friends can see you have joined or what you post. I even on then for years and really helpful to keep ann eye on anything happening locally. Good luck in your journey to being mummies ☺️
