*TW* Possible BFN - What happens next?

Hello everyone, I caved and tested at 11dpt and it’s returned back negative, we will do a test tomorrow too as this is the date given by our clinic and I’ll continue my medicine until told to stop, but I just wondered if any of you know what happens next.

Do NHS hospitals tend to do a blood test to confirm the negative? 🖤 And can we ask to do another round of injections rather than use our last frozen embryo for the next round? ( We have 2 left)

Hi again Ladybird_36 , so sorry to see your BFN, mine was the same on my OTD on Saturday.

My NHS clinic haven't done a blood test, they've just taken the home pregnancy test at it's word and told me stop all meds, and I started bleeding yesterday. Not sure if it's different for different clinics though, and maybe dependant on your circumstances

Gutted I won't be pregnant for Christmas, but trying to look to the future. Hope you're doing ok x

Hello again Connie290 , so nice to hear from you, I wish it was in better circumstances for us both, I’m so sorry to hear your news.

I think my clinic will tell me to stop too, I suppose it doesn’t feel as real when you do it at home, somehow if a medical professional says it you actually believe it.

I’m gutted too, our test date was our wedding anniversary tomorrow so we took it as some type of good luck, alas it hasn’t been the case! Please keep in touch, I’d love to know how you’re doing! And look after yourself, always here if you need a chat especially since we’re both in the same boat x

Hi @Ladybird_36, sorry to hear that. I just got a negative result last week too, it is gutting at a bad time of year. My NHS clinic doesn't do blood tests either. They give me a home pregnancy test to take 15dpt and that is the result. I stopped meds on Wednesday morning after the negative result and started bleeding on Saturday. The NHS guidelines they gave me at the outset said you have to use all embryos in storage before starting another round, and also you can't do a private round in amongst the NHS funded rounds. I haven't tested that or asked to do anything differently but my understanding is that I have to use all embryos before starting another round of stims. It might be different in different places though. We are now four down, two in storage ❤️

Hi WillowPark , so sorry to hear about your negative, same boat here too. I’m exploring private alongside NHS (as I’ve got a 6-8 month wait now on my hands for my next NHS transfer) I contacted my local ICB just to double check that I won’t lose my NHS transfers if I do go private in between. My friend did it and had no trouble at all. Can I ask where / when they told you you weren’t allowed to do private when doing NHS IVF? Thanks

Hello WillowPark I’m so sorry to hear your news too, it is especially hard this time of the year. We’ve been asked to test on 12 dpt which seems early but I will pop them an email tomorrow after we do our ‘official test’. It’s good to know what NHS guidelines you were given, we weren’t told anything, but if we have to use our frozen embryo first then that’s what we’ll have to do, I’m just worried with time passing by and my endometriosis that I won’t have any in the future (I’m sure we all worry about this) good luck with your future rounds, I’ll keep an eye out for your journey ♥️

hi I’m so sorry to hear it’s negative. Your clinic should have told you at the time of transfer what happens at test day? Ours is just an at home test and we email them with results. if it’s negative they send you a letter a week or so later saying your case will be reviewed.

If you have frozen embryos you will use them first and it’s a really really positive thing that you have those 2 frozen and don’t need to do another collection round as one of the hard parts is already done to make some embryos good enough to freeze. It was a frozen transfer after a failed fresh that worked for us on the nhs. Thinking of you just now as it’s so rubbish getting a negative 😢 and good luck for your little frozen embryos when you feel ready to try them 💜xx

Hi Twiglet2 thank you for your message, sadly the hospital only told us to email with results, but not what the next steps would be, but thankfully we’ve just had a call and they’ve explained it exactly as you’ve said! 💛

A dr will review our case and we’ll use our last frozen embryo (which fingers crossed works) but if not then we can start a fresh protocol. Thank you so much for explaining everything it really put my mind to ease 💕 x

hi ladybird, can I ask have you had any spotting or bleeding just from my own experience when I did my BETA test at home it came back negative then I had my bloods taken that same morning came back positive so? Should be the same I should imagine that you get a blood test to confirm? Hopefully this has been the case? I’m really sorry if the result is still negative and big big hugs to you if so but in my experience the blood tests are more accurate ❤️🤗 best best wishes to you xxx

Hello Jomo27 unfortunately my clinic have just called to say they don't do blood tests to confirm as the dates they've given for the test day are as late as they can be. I was hoping for my own piece of mind they would check my bloods as I had read your post, but sadly they don't and my medicine will run out in a couple of days so have no choice but to stop taking them.

Congratulations on your BFP ❤️ what a great gift for this festive time of the year! Thank you so much for the best wishes, sending lots to you too! xxx

Oh I’m so sorry about that 😢 I find it strange they don’t do bloods? I’m very sorry that you didn’t get the answer you were wanting and I truly hope that your turn is coming, thank you for your kind wishes it’s such a precious gift and I am very thankful beyond words xxxx
