When to test during TWW as expecting the worst

I had my transfer on Monday (13th) with 2x 5day blasts, and have been told to test on 27th.

I’m absolutely convinced it won’t work as I had horrendous abdominal pain the day after transfer for 24 hours, to the point I had to go to the emergency gynaecologist at our local hospital for scans - my left ovary was enlarged as expected, they could see collapsed follicles, a complex cyst, and I had a ‘disrupted bowel’ - whatever that means!

In my head the pain I was experiencing probably resulted in my body rejecting the embryos 😢. I’m praying I’m wrong, but neither my clinic or the hospital has been able to pin point what had caused the pain.

Anyhow, would 12dp5dt be an acceptable time to test, being the Saturday? I’d rather just do it on a weekend when my partner is around, and I can then go out and do something to keep my mind occupied!

My clinic’s OTD is 11dp5dt so I’d say yes. However, even if negative I suggest keeping up with the meds until 27th given that’s your clinic’s day. Good luck! Xx

I always get told to test 10dp5dt by my clinic x

Wow, so much earlier. I did think it was odd for a whole two week wait, especially with 5dayers! Thank you x

I always feel like mine are early! I worry the little embryo hasn’t had enough time. I tested early on day 8 last time and caught a chemical I would have missed if I had waited till day 10 though saying that x

my transfer was 13th too (one embryo FET) my OTD is 25th which would be 12dpt and my friend thought that was late as her clinic is 9dpt but I’ve tested already anyway because I’ve no will power Positive so far but I’m petrified of a chemical. Good luck xx

9dpt, crikey!

Congratulations, I hope it stays positive!

I woke in the night last night and had a bit of blood so have had very little sleep as I think it’s my period breaking through 😭 xx

Possible to be implantation bleeding hun? Are you on much progesterone and was this a FET? xx

I thought so initially as I only had a wee bit during the night, but I’ve got up this morning and it’s like my normal period.

I am on 2x cyclogest. In my spiral of googling during the middle of the night though, I read that my trigger (ovaleap and buserelin) can cause a shorter luteal phase, and this can be the impact xx

Ah no I’m sorry. Yes that’s true certainly for buserelin I had that as a trigger for egg retrieval but I did a freeze all, period came 5 days after collection I think. Please look after yourself and best of luck if you have another shot at it xxx

hey lovely! I know how hard it is, i’d say if you want to test, then test and just be aware of the timing etc and the effect this can have on the result! I tested out my trigger and then left it a few days later as my anxiety was through the roof and got a positive 6dp5dt and currently 5+3 weeks, my advice if testing makes you feel better to do it, because the mental torture of waiting, for me was the worst part! Sending you all the luck and love in the world!! Xx

It was the only one we were going to try to give our little one a sibling😭, although I did say to my partner that it might be worth trying a second… clearly my post transfer meds weren’t strong enough on this one either xx

Is this a fresh transfer? Our test day for fresh is 10dpt so I would say 12dpt is absolutely plenty of time to get an accurate result and defo better to do it on a day where you have support and aren’t working etc if you can! Whether fresh or frozen my results are always accurate by 8dpt, Good luck xx

Hey - it is. Unfortunately I have had full flow period this morning, so looks like we’re out anyway 😭😭 xx

Oh I’m so sorry! Have you tested? Xx

I can’t even see the point to be honest😭. I just knew this would be the result after what happened earlier this week

Plus, I only have one crappy Wilko test in the cupboard and have my Amazon delivery due tomorrow with decent tests. Xx

I know that awful feeling so well I am so so sorry 😭 I did also have really bad bleeding with my wee boy on day 7 though and just tested ‘to get it over with’ like all the other unsuccessful rounds but don’t want to give you false hope if you are certain it’s your period 😢 if you do go again they should up your progesterone hopefully xx

CJohns in reply toTwiglet2

Yep, it certainly is the way my period normally arrives 😭. The clinic will make sure I test anyway, so lucky me, I’ll have to wait another 8 days to do that for them… by that point my period will have been and gone 🫠 xx

I’d suggest doing your cheapo ones anyway. You would be able to get a positive by now. It could be a hematoms, or progesterone. I had a huge bleed at 5 weeks. Xx

So sorry CJohns, I know this feeling well. Even worse that you know you need to pretend it isnt happening and keep on taking the meds 'just in case' but as others say it is so important to do that. Look after yourself xx

I’m just praying the clinic agrees for me to stop taking meds tomorrow, as I’m even getting clots now, which I don’t normally get. Thanks for your kind words xx

hi! I also had my transfer on the 13th with a blastocyst. I am so sorry to hear about your pain. (My bowel endometriosis also came back due to the progesterone first few days so I emphasise with the pain).

my clinic told me to do a urine test on Thursday the 23rd and then an at home bloodtest on Sunday the 26th.

I don’t know if that helps? It is my first transfer so don’t have much knowledge.
