Hello, is anyone willing to share good / bad experiences of IVF abroad? Privately if not possible otherwise. I am looking into Cyprus, Greece, Czech and Spain. Thanks xx

Hey

We went to Instituto Bernabeu in Spain and they were brilliant the whole way through. We had to provide so much information and do so many tests but that was fine for us as we wanted a proper experience with no gaps - we had to have ICSI as we both have fertility issues but it was so worth it.

Just for a reference on cost (which was a huge issue for us), we were quoted £12-£15k just for the treatment in the UK and ended up paying that in the IB for everything - all tests, treatment, medication, follow up costs (such as the egg and sperm freezing process and storage for a year), plus our flights and hotel for our stay, which was about 3 weeks. Of course it depends on where you live and how easily you can fly back and forth but we went there instead of Greece as it was easier and actually, had a better feeling from our consultation.

I’d recommend looking them up, they have clinics all over and submit research to fertility studies, which is why I thought they’d be so good.

I’m only 9 days in after transfer so can’t give a complete success story and it’s actually looking like it may have failed this time (I’ll have to wait for blood results to confirm) but the clinic have been on the end of emails really quick and provided information I feel is tailored to me and not just a general response.

Hi - I am OE at the moment, fresh transfer last week with one frozen. They’ll give you all the info on whichever you need though and they were really helpful with answering questions after the consultation when we thought of more afterwards.

I’m also with IB. Amazing aren’t they! I’m so pleased I chose them. My PA is also a ⭐️ Are you with the clinic in Alicante? Can I ask which package you are on? You said it includes all meds and flights and hotels?

So far I’ve had 3 BFN with 1st double donors, and 1 chemical with new double donors. I now have 6 frosties from that round and am on meds for 5th transfer 🤞🏼

I also bled before OTD on first 2 transfers, although period didn’t really kick in till I stopped the progesterone. Do you have frosties so next step FET? X

Yea Alicante, they’re so lovely and helpful. Sorry for the confusion I didn’t have a package, I just meant the whole trip, treatment and meds cost the same as the quote we had just for the treatment in the UK. We booked our own hotel, flights and everything and we used the trams and buses to travel and it all came under £15k. It’s still such a huge amount of money.

I have one frozen left, which is scary to say really. I haven’t spoken to the clinic, I’ll be contacting them tomorrow to let them know more about my situation and see what they say but guess it’ll be another trip over to try with the last remaining one!

Sorry to read what you’re going through, this is such a difficult process for anyone. It’s hard enough coming to the realisation that you can’t conceive naturally and then for it not to work when assisted by a clinic, it’s just devastating to say the very least… I really wish you every bit of success for this transfer 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Ahh ok. Was just curious as I’m on a package. Same clinic as me! They are so so good aren’t they! Reading some people’s experiences on here I’m so so thankful I chose IB. And the Alicante area is so lovely. Clean, safe. Found an amazing Asian restaurant there too so I’m already looking forward to that when I go back!

My issue is my age and I’m single. No known fertility issues so I’m very grateful for that. I could only get on my package if I went DE so that’s what I’ve done. I just thought yep young donors this IVF is gonna work. Yet here I am approaching transfer number 5…

I’m 🤞🏼 for us both. We have the beet clinic behind us so soon we will both be 🤰🏽 and moaning about swollen ankles and indegestion!!!!! ✨ 🌈 🍍 xx

Yes I feel the same. We stayed in Alicante for the whole treatment phase from the first scan as I was so nervous about timings of things and missing certain dates for things but I feel better knowing now what it all involves. We found a great tapas restaurant that was brilliant but I’d love to try the Asian one!

I pray we get the result we want and you’re so brave doing this alone too how amazing! Let me know how this one goes x

Very happy for you! How did you find the matching process? Do they have donors mainly from North Cyprus?

Hi hun it was blood type hair and eye colour they have a uni over there with students from all over plus a lot of English people living there it’s unknown donor and to be truthful that’s what I wonted I’m never going to tell my child every one says how alike we look and we do it’s mad me and my partner don’t talk about him being donor it’s like we have just blocked that out once we got are bfp xxx

forgot to say they have connections with a pharmacy over her so you get your meds delivered then when you get there you buy the rest what you need at cheaper prices I asked them for Lubion injection as well as the pessaries as I always bleed before test day I was on blood thinner injections and told them I had Nk cells don’t no if I have but was trying for 13 years so thought worth a try 25 ml of steroids seem to have done the trick I ate walnuts and Brazil’s every day just chicken and veg had a shot of beetroot juice every day plus was drinking pom juice my hubby had Pom juice 30 mins before he give is sample they did a study on it and helps sperm they drive on the same side of road as us so got a car so could take it easy just slow walking and took my time on the day of transfer she said get up and walk back and forth across the room to get blood to your uterus did not have any symptoms of being pregnant just needing a wee in the night last time I had bfp was 20 yrs ago and been doing ivf for the last 13 yrs so out of all of this something made it work or all of it but hope this is of some help to you babes or who ever reads it xxxxxx

We had a wonderful experience and now have twin boys who are nearly 5yo (next march)

My journey was not an easy one as i had a history of recurrent miscarriages so even swapping to DE it took a while for it to work which sadly was just down to my body and clinic did all they could and i did extra testing but showed nothing just my body needed time i guess - anyways would totally recommend them and definitely worth you having a chat with them.

I went to a clinic in Spain. Cannot say enough good things about them. It was DE. It was recommended by a consultant in the UK at the clinic I was at after I had decided that my OE were past their sell by date. Currently 21 weeks so although not a success yet it is beginning to look like it may be.

They are amazing. They have been supportive when it hasn’t worked. I signed up pre COVID but obviously couldn’t travel. We kept in contact, had Skype calls etc.

All clinics though I imagine will have success stories. I found them reasonable price wise and clear on the pricing too. Never hidden extras. Communication is not an issue as they have an international department. I really like the people I see when I’m there. The whole team in fact. It’s easy to get to from the airport. Don’t need to hire a car, just jump on the metro.

we had DE ICSI at IVI BARCELONA. After 7rounds with own eggs and 2 with DE as my eggs were no longer any good ( I’ll be 48 nest week) After last attempt n UK we saw a new consultant who said we were wasting our money in the uk and the service /embryology/everything was better and cheaper in Spain and he recommended IVI Barcelona.

I did a rough costing andthe same treatment with all genetic testing etc in uk was £7k more., so even with 3trios out there and hotels etc it was still cheaper

IVI were incredibly thorough and I am now sat breastfeeding my 9 month old daughter ! Conceived on our 10th and final attempt

My sister in law is also pregnant via DE from same clinic on her 2nd attempt. She was early menopause
