I recently was told I likely have an auto immune condition - it’s been stopping me from achieving pregnancy for two years… they don’t know which one yet but there are things happening in my body - red dry eyes, rash when they put the embryo in there and another on my neck etc.
I think I got a bit lost in the ivf journey esp with my age and I’m just pausing to consider that this disease might be harmful to any baby I have if I manage it?
Did anyone else with auto immune disease worry about this? Did it impact your baby? What are the chances? I can’t seem to get a straight answer online and ivf doctor hasn’t discussed it with me!!

Best wait for definite diagnosis so they can treat whatever auto-immune condition you are suffering from and discuss your fertility issues with you Might be an idea for the condition to be under control before you have any further fertility treatment
Thanks for your reply! The sad thing is I will be 42 in January and my viable eggs are also running out…
I think I’m coming to a conclusion that I should stop trying! But I’m just devastated! It’s so hard to firmly decide to let go of trying! The doctors are slow aren’t they! Rheumatology went on strike so my blood tests were cancelled for eg and by the time they find out what’s wrong, if ever, I will likely be infertile anyway!
Thank you for replying Jade… I have transferred several embryos in there over the last two years and my body seems to be terminating them! had a serious issue last week with my eyes too - basically couldn’t see without sunglasses when I went outside… I think whatever auto immune condition I have is getting worse and I’ve been thinking I’m terrified of what’s going to happen to the baby even if I do get pregnant… I’ve been overcome with sadness at the idea of giving up but I want any baby I do have to be well, first and foremost x
I am 43 and just found out I have immune issues which we are currently trying to treat before going for our next round of transfers, we have done an embryo banking round just now. Could you do some cycles to get the embryos frozen and then move on to look at your immunes?
I’ve just ordered the book by Alan Beers which I am waiting on arriving to hopefully shed more light. I had my first LIT treatment yesterday - unfortunately only found my issues out by paying for the tests because it was always put down to my age and endometriosis for why it wasn’t working - and we have been ttc for 6.5 years Good luck and I hope you get your answers soon!
Wow you have been through a lot! The trouble is, I’ve spent £30k transferring embryos and slowly finding out there is something else wrong - at first I had no auto immune symptoms so I thought it was the case of finding the right egg! I think it might be my breast implants which triggered the auto immune condition…I’ve got a constant rash the same as the other women on breast implant illness Facebook group! So I can’t afford to keep doing ivf cycles- my explant operation for the breast implants is another £8.6k and I just can’t afford it all - I’m a single mum… I think if I was a millionaire, I would consider doing more cycles… but whatever condition I’ve got, if I get pregnant I will be worrying every day that the baby is not ok! It’s like 9 months of torture?
everything in my life is currently being controlled by ttc and I’m sick of it too! - what I eat, where I live, the clothes I wear (don’t spend money on myself to save for ivf)… I’m just tired of it all - and I ha e one beautiful little boy snd I want to spend more energy on making him happy (and money).
