I have recently had my thyroid checked (as I’m tired all the time and a few other things).
its come back at 0.5 which they class as borderline normal, but I wondered if it’s on the low side for trying to conceive? I wonder if this is one of the reasons I’ve struggled and had recurrent miscarriages.
Any advice would be great, as my doctor doesn’t seem too clued up about optimal fertility levels!
Many thanks

Hey cat lady, did they only test your TSH ? I think normally for fertility they like the tsh to be low (below 2.5 I think), but if you are worried and have symptoms compatible with a thyroid issue you should also get your T4 and T3 checked as well as your thyroid antibodies. X
hello, agree with the first poster that you need to get all three tested to get an overall picture. However generally speaking, the closer to 1 your TSH is - the better - my GP has told me this and so has a few people who have seen an endocrinologist x
I used to see an endocrinologist who wanted my TSH around 2.5 (it fluctuates a lot, from being too low to too high so I’m on medication to control it). My latest results came back also at 0.5 and the GP has said that’s fine but I feel in the context of my overall results, it’s low and is fluctuating a lot (it was 5 when I last had it done). I’m a little lost myself with what that means for trying to conceive (also a sibling for my twins), and the GP doesn’t do much for it when it’s within range even when it’s fluctuating. Like the others have said, it may be worth exploring all the numbers to get a better picture xx
