Quality of blastocyst

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new on this network. I’m 43 but nearly 44 soon & had 2 rounds of IVF (to see how many eggs I can get) before the embryo transfer which was couple days ago. Found 5 eggs, 1 dropped so out of 4 eggs, only 2 fertilised but only 1 reached 5 day blastocyst. I was told the grading was Bb - in my clinic they grade from A-D (A being the best) I only have this one chance as finances are really right now.

Any thoughts on B grading? Thanks

thanks. I’ve been thinking Bb isn’t too bad for my age. The only thing I was worrying about as they put the 1 blastocyst is forgot to mention the stage is only 2, so it’s a 2Bb when it was transferred recently on day 5 transfer. I’ve been reading a lot of people on this site have 4/5 number which means more developed? I’m just wondering if my 2Bb can develop to a 4 or 5Bb while inside me during this 10 day wait?

Congratulations, Michaela! And fingers crossed for the best outcome of your 2WW! As far as I understand from my clinic, the number only indicates by how much the embryo has been hatching out of the shell on the day of transfer. It will continue the hatching process after transfer so please don't worry. A BB rating is very encouraging, my clinic for instance very rarely assign an A rating and it is so subjective anyway. Your womb is the best environment for your embryo, try and stay sane in the next two weeks, do all the things that make you happy, wishing you all the best! x

So if the embryo is to implant it will have to grow from an early blastocysts (stage 1-2) to a hatching / hatched blastocyst (stage 5-6). That will need to happen in the first couple of days after transfer. Hopefully your embryo is just a little slower. Wishing you all the best 🙏 x

hope it does & praying 🙏 I’ve literally have limited finances now and don’t earn much - low salary so I don’t know how a lot of people can afford 3/4/5 cycles of IVF in the UK

I had success with a slow growing embryo which didn't reach blastocyst until day 6 when it was frozen. Others have too. Don't worry if you have or haven't had symptoms, spotting etc. It really is variable whether this happens. Wishing you luck x 🙏

I would say you are unto to a winner. Plus, you have gotten this far it makes perfect sense to transfer it and hope for the best . It only takes one.

Morning Michaela,I have had 2 rounds of ivf so far I had 10 eggs retrieved, only 2 fertilised. My first egg was classed 1A the best class ever. The doctors were so impressed with the quality of egg. It worked sadly my baby had renal agenesis which is a rare genetic disorder, sadly he didn't make it.

I had one last egg in the freezer with the lowest grade egg so we tried it bit got told to prepare for it not to happen. I manifested it working but prepared ourselves emotionally not to work. The egg defrosted well and now I have a 7 month old!

I honestly think it's the luck if the draw and the correct medication, the lining of your womb etc more than quality of the egg what we have learnt anyway hope that helps, I wish you all the luck in the world! 💖💖

so happy for you, that it worked in the end & lovely to hear stories that put a smile on all our faces that are going through this emotional journey. 🤗 the second embryo didn’t grow on day 5 so our clinic said, they couldn’t freeze it - just hoping & praying 🙏 I was nervous as I was told 2Bb (the Bb is quite good) but was reading online that stages 1 &2 are very early blastocyst and needs to develop to 5/6 for hatching.

I was also reading most women can spot bleed, cramps etc in the 2 week wait if early positive signs. I don’t have any signs of this. What do you think? Thanks

Awww thank you! It was hard long journey we finally got her. We named her Hope because she well and truly gave us hope! Oh right it so stressful, I was a Google warrior throught our ivf journeys you can't help it! Haha, try not to get too held up on symptoms dome womendont get any symptoms until after 2 week wait, every woman is different! Good look I really hope for those 2 lines for you 💖💖
