Test or waiting for period?

Hi there, I just wondered what people found most useful towards the end of the 2WW. Waiting to see if your period naturally starts ( hopefully not), or doing a pregnancy test (such as clear blue test 6 days early)?

I hate seeing the words ‘not pregnant’ on the tests, but also hate it when your mid work and starting your period just catches you off guard :(

I appreciate it’s likely to be an individual choice, but just wondered other people’s thoughts & preferences Xxx

for me personally testing early helps me as I have a good idea then if it’s worked or not but also a little bit of hope still that it can turn around so it eases me in gently to the result but as you said it’s really a very personal choice and even different every round of the when where and how’s! I only use first response early response or digital clearblue. The clearblue early results I have had false hope with evap lines in the past so try to avoid those now. Good luck 🤞🏽 🌸 xx

Thanks, yes I like that idea of easing you in!

Wishing you all the best in your journey xx

I think it all depends if you’re doing IVF or trying to conceive naturally. IVF meds cause symptoms very similar to early pregnancy and the only way to know if it’s worked is to do a pregnancy test. Most of the time the period only comes on after you’ve stopped medication (not always as I’ve heard some people still have a period even when on the meds) and you only stop the meds when you’ve had a negative pregnancy test.

As for natural contraception I can’t really advise, in my case we have to avoid getting pregnant naturally as we’re doing PGT-M IVF to avoid a 50/50 genetic condition in the embryo.

Hope this helps in some way x

Hi Strawberry. Keep up with any prescribed medication, and test on the day recommended by your clinic. Good luck. Diane

personally I hate testing, I never tested early and don’t think I could. I’d rather cling on to the hope for as long as possible than have my dreams shattered early.
