Mild IVF and embryo batching

hello, I was wondering if anyone had tried mild IVF, what was the reason and outcome?

Im 40 with low ovarian reserve, I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss, I’m currently doing embryo batching and about to start my second round of b2b ivf rounds. We collected 6 eggs, 5 fertilised and 5 D3 embryos. My consultant was planning on only doing 2 rounds, but I’ve said I would do 3 because I’m worried we will only be left with 1-2 euploidy embryos at the end of 2 rounds of batching given the success rates. But she said if I do a 3rd round she would recommend mild stimulation. I’m not clear why as we’d likely get v few eggs/ embryos and so I was wondering what the benefit was vs conventional stimulation (I’m currently on the highest doses of meriofert/ fostimon).

I also wondered what would be considered a ‘good’ number or D3 embryos to collect before going to PGTA? To help me decide how many rounds I should consider.

Sorry for the long post, any advice welcome!

Hey, I did mild IVF when at 37 to 38 and I had 9 eggs collected 6 fertiland 5 embryos at the end. I only had 6 days of stims and i became pregnant at my first try. So the benefit of mild IVF is that you get fewer eggs but with high quality. And given your age mild stimulation is better as any eggs produced will e of higher quality. There is no point having high stimulation and many eggs then lower fertilisation and 1 or 2 blast or even none at the end. Since you have done high stimulation why not try mild IVF so you an compare the too and know which works for you. My personal opinion though. I wish you all the best in any decision you make. xx

thank you, this is very helpful. I see what you mean, perhaps it could be good to try a different approach xx

Hi, i have just came across your post and seen you had success with mild IVF. I have done 5 cycles of normal IVF and now considering mild. I an 41, low AMH, and really trying for a sibling for my daughter (2nd round of IVF). I see you only did 6 days of stims. What cycle days did you do these? I am trying to work out if i would have time to sort this prior to my next period which is due in 2 weeks. xx

Hi, hope you are doing alright. I did this mild IVF in 2020. I think I started stoma on day 2 of my cycle and it was for 6 days before I now had the trigger shot for egg collection and then transfer. It was quite easy and simple.

And I did not have any side effect whatsoever, though I know bodies differs. I think with your age you should go for it as it will give you a chance to get good quality and mature eggs. Remember it take only one.

I wish you all the best and I’m always here if you have any more questions. xx

Hello! I have the same question about mild stims, have you had a chance to try it yet?

Hi there, no I didn’t try it in the end. J did 3 rounds back to back and as I had a good result on my second round I did the same protocol (conventional) on the 3rd round as well. However, had I not had a good result in the second round I would’ve had considered the mild ivf as sometimes it can give you a better outcome. Hope that helps x
