Hiya - anyone had any luck with day 3 embryos with only 4,5 or 6 cells grade 2 with some fragmentation. Age 40. Already feeling there is no hope but trying to stay positive so any good news stories very welcome! X

Our third and final cycle and the only embryo to transfer was at 6 cells when we got the morning phone call. I lost hope then (not that I really had any left at that point).

When we went in for transfer, a lovely embryologist came and told us the news that it had just popped to 8 cells, more or less as we walked in the door! That 8 cell bundle is now 3 months old and absolutely perfect, couldn’t be healthier. I was 37 when I got pregnant and 38 when I had him, and always had low egg yields.

Sometimes it does work out, I really hope it does for you too

thank you! That's a lovely story. Keeping Everthing crossed. It's our first attempt outside of the UK so hoping the changes with the new clinic helps bring a different result. 6 transfers in the past but not even one positive result!

Hi Lyndsbaby. Years ago we only did day three transfers as we didn’t have the expertise to grow them on to blastocysts. We still got over 30% success rate, probably because they were back inside the womb where they belong. Good luck. Diane

Hi! Just saw your post and this really resonated with me.

I had an egg retrieval in jan 2023 and we had 3 eggs fertilise. 2 of those embryos were 5 and 6 cells on day 3, grade 2 with quite a lot of fragmentation. We were told that the odds were against these 2 but they’d let them go on to day 6 to see if how they got on.

On day 6 we got a call from the embryologist to say that both these embryos made good quality blastocysts and were frozen :) we could not believe it!

I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant with one of those frosties.

I have everything crossed for you and wishing you all the luck in the world!

Congratulations! That's amazing! They gave me the option to wait until day 5 but my husband had flown home to the UK already and I couldn't face being out there alone if they said there was nothing to transfer on day 5. Might have gave me more piece of mind if they'd made it to blastocyst stage. This gives me a lot of hope though! Thank you xx
