Hello

Sorry I can't help re long protocol I've never done this. I have had flare protocol which can be good low responders. It didn't work for me I responded better on short protocol. I got 4, 4 and 0 eggs on my 3 flare rounds but got 9 eggs on the short protocol. My body didn't like being suppressed but everyone is different.
I've had 4 rounds with low amh and always had long protocol. The responses were 3 eggs, 9 eggs, 8 eggs, 5eggs. Not going to lie, it's a struggle to get 1 good quality blastocyst for us. X
What is flare round?i haven’t heard about it
Unfortunately I cannot help you with the long protocol either but I can reassure you that a low Amh is not that huge problem. I had a very low Amh. My obs suggested ONLY natural ivf. He was right. Even though it takes longer as every month you take 1 egg (as you don't use any medicines) in my case it was what it actually worked. My daughter is now 12 months. As my doctor says you don't need a lot of eggs you just need a good egg. Anything you choose I am sending you all my positive thoughts and prayers. 🤞
I had two rounds of long protocol, the first round I got 4 eggs and 1 blastocyst which ended in a chemical. Second round, they increased all my meds to the maximum dosage, I got 10 eggs, 2 blastocyst, fresh transfer failed and second transfer is my beautiful 5 month old. I could totally see the benefit, every scan my follicles were growing together (no crazy lead one) which gave ys the best shot. Second round, we triggered a day later when the follicles were measuring a bit bigger and I think it made the difference. But everyone is unique, I hope it works
i have a very low amh of 0.05 ng ml and normal afc (9) relatively ok fsh 8-10 and currently on a long protocol (agonist). Still downregulating so can’t help you yet though I recently found an article comparing a few different protocols for women like me who how discordance between amh & afc. If you want I can send you the link. Also curious for answers here ps. Previously tried (and failed) with short agonist protocol (1 follicle so cancelled) & short antagonist (3 follicles grown, 2 eggs harvested 1 very shitty day 3 embryo that stopped growing) I’m 36 ps 2. Already have a daughter conceived easily within a few months of trying with a similarly ridiculously low amh 3 years ago ( for those who are reading and feeling hopeless about their amh) good luck!
Hello KHMSJ,
Here is my experience with the long protocol:
I'm a poor responder with very low amh and the long protocol resulted in a cancelled cycle for me. At my ultrasound appointment there were no follicles/eggs found!!
I did 2 short protocol IVF's before the long protocol that resulted with 3 eggs each time at retrieval. I was frustrated that I had such a low number of eggs each time and of course NO BFP either. So I asked my clinic for the long protocol and they said it probably wouldn't make a difference anyway but it's ok if I wanna try it.
What they never mentioned though was that it can put you in temporary menopause!!!
I skipped periods twice after the failed cycle (that never happened before) and dealt with horrible hot flushes and mood swings. That went on for about 8-10 weeks. I was terrified that this was going to be permanent because nobody could tell me if my cycle and ovulation would come back.
After that I switched clinics and requested the short protocol again. Resulted in BfN again. My doctor recommended to switch to donor eggs after 4 failed cycles. I have a beautiful daughter from the first round with donor eggs.
Everyone is different but just letting you know my experience was very bad with the long protocol. And if you read up on the subject many other poor responders seem to have the same problem.
Talk to your doctor about this.
Good luck to you. I hope you figure out what works for you...
I'm on a long protocol at the moment, having started my meds last week. My first round was a short protocol which wasn't very successful; 4 eggs retrieved from 9 follicles, 2 mature with 1 embryo making it to blastocyst on day 6. Had to go for early egg collection as my follicles were all over the place, size wise. FET failed with a grade 3AB embryo. I'm 38 with tubal factor and low AMH. Consultant has also recommended ICSI even though we don't have male factor. Good luck with your protocol. I feel more positive this time round.
I did both, long and short and they gave me the same results… 8eggs, 4 fertilized 3 blasts 1 pgta normal…
