I have started using clexane quite recently and the bruises are insane. Any tips on how I can reduce this?

Clexane is the biggest mosnter of them all! That's what happened to me last month, I've done the injection perfectly, no pain and half an hour later I got that 🙈🙈🙈 I nearly fainted when I saw it 😂So I've been told to use upper thighs too so alternate tighs and tummy. Also once you get the needle in pull the plunger slightly and inject only if there is no blood coming. I've learnt this too late but it works. No blood, no bruise. Best of luck hun xxxx

Me neither! It freaked me out and it took a month to fully disappear. The nurse said I've probably popped an artery or a capillary or someone like that 🙈😂

I’ve done them throughout each pregnancy 11 months and 11 months. It shouldn’t bruise like that normally but I always had bruises. Try arnica not much else you can do ❤️❤️❤️

I second alternating where you inject. Also helps prevent the weird hard lumps that form at the injection site 🥴

I had bruising like this. I posted here about it and some lovely ladies gave me advise. As well as alternating injection site try rubbing an ice cube on the spot before you inject and straight after injecting apply firm pressure with a cotton ball on the injection site for 30 seconds do not rub the area. Once I started doing this I got far less bruising. Good luck 👍

I second this advice, the nurse advised me to do just that 👍🏻

Hi! I had to use Clexane throughout my whole pregnancy and it was tough but the good new is you get used to it. I would put some ice for a few seconds just before injecting to numb the area which helped with the ‘pinch’ feeling you’d sometimes get. The bruises however are something you would have to get used to. The most painful area for me was just under the belly button so I would inject on the side of my waist instead. Try not to inject closer to the areas where you’d already injected as they could get tender. Good luck! 😊

I was a massive wimp so would try and have ice on the area I was going to inject for about 20 mins at least before the injection, and then for a couple of minutes after. I did still bruise on some of them but not all of them and they were smaller bruises. I also found the lower down I did them the worse the bruise, the least bruisy area for me was too the sides of the belly button but around 5 cm away from it. Good luck! xx

I’ve found icing before but not after helps me get bruises that aren’t quite so horrific! Xx

Hi Blueberry. My advice as always is to push the needle in slowly, inject slowly, wait a few seconds and pull needle out slowly. Work in a smile side to side underneath the belly button. Good luck ladies! Diane

Thank you all for your invaluable advice. I have started using ice before, injecting slowly and not one bruise! Wow the difference is amazing xxx
