Another BFN on OTD. What next ?

My blood results are back and after my tiny glimmer of hope earlier in the week from a very faint positive which I now think was an indent line (never ever will I test early again) the bloods are negative.

So what now ? My story is a strange one in that I was misdiagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes and lots of adhesions in my early 20’s to find out in my late 30’s during a myomectomy that wasn’t the case - no one can tell me why I can’t get pregnant?!

I’ve had 3 failed IVFs 2 with my own eggs and this last round with donor eggs and the embryos just don’t implant. I’m 40 years old and have been trying for 20 years to get pregnant. Nothing and I mean nothing works. I have 2 Frosties left from this DE round but I’m starting to think why put myself through it? If the other 5 embies didn’t stick why would these two.

Oh Stargazer I'm so sorry 😞

Have you done an ERA ALICE or EMMA? They look at implantation window, microbiome and Endometriosis. The implantation windows seems to have done the trick for me.

I haven’t, my clinic don’t recommend them but so many people have said that’s what worked for them. I’ll speak with the consultant when we next go in and ask. There’s got to be something we can do honestly it just doesn’t make sense not trying anything else x

I’d second the era emma and Alice test I’ve had 2bfn and 2 chemical then we did the tests and realised I needed to transfer 1 day later xxx

Our clinic just started doing them. Definitely worth seeing if it's an option as like you say you want to make sure you have every opportunity for your 2 precious embryos.

Just to wish you luck and will be thinking of you both when you have your next cycle of treatment. Make sure you have plenty of support at this stressful time - you might find this group helpful facebook.com/groups/40andov...

Take care of yourself

Thank you I’ll have a look at the group. If taking care of myself means having a large glass of red (I haven’t had one for year) I will be doing that tonight x

hi Stargazer, have you had a hysteroscopy? I was having a lot of chemicals and bfn’s and then I went for the hysteroscopy and I found a problem and I’m now currently eleven weeks. It might be worth a try? Don’t give up just yet xx

in reply to Jrss1

Hi Jrss, I haven’t but when I had my myomectomy I was told everything was looking good. I will ask the question at my next meeting. Now a days they seem to put it down to egg quality but that doesn’t explain why I have never got pregnant since I started trying 20 years ago nearly. I will bring these things up at my meeting as I honestly just believed the donor egg route was going to fix everything so didn’t push for anything before xx

yeah it’s very strange alright. It could be something very treatable like mine. I would ask to do it and rule everything out. I did every test I think possible. I think the doctor thought I was mad but I knew if I left anything it would annoy me years later. If you do decide to go for the hysteroscopy let me know and I’ll PM you what I asked them to test. You still have time so don’t lose hope xx

Hi Jrss I have PMd you x

I am so sorry for your BFN. I echo everyones advice re EMMA Alice etc but I also just wanted to say sometimes its just the sh1ttest of luck and it doesn't mean it won't work next time. I know that's probably not helpful as it isn't something that you can fix immediately but I have friends and relatives that kept going and kept going and had their children on their 7th, 8th and even 9th transfer, often with their worst embryos and doing nothing different than the times before. It is so often a numbers game. Now isn't the time for planning, sending you a huge hug and my sympathies, but also over time I hope you find your fight to try with those two embryos in the freezer, as you might regret it if you don't and they might just be the one xx

in reply to

Hi Daisy, it is early to plan but after a good cry I am ready to start asking questions to try with at least one of the frozen embies. My clinic don’t do the Alice or Emma they say there’s not enough evidence to support it. Do you think I could have it done at another clinic and take my results back to where my embies are stored. I so wish o had a consultant here with me now so he could be answering all my questions. It is really helpful to know other ladies just didn’t have the luck until after a few transfers it makes me feel hopeful it’s not just a loosing battle. Xx

I'm so sorry Stargazer!

The immune side of things might be worth exploring if you haven't done so already. It might also be worth consulting with a Reproductive Immunologist.
