So after 4 years of secondary infertility I’m going ahead with another round but this time with double donor.
I’m trying to not get my hopes up too much but it’s hard not to when the success rates are so much higher for my age.
Any advice from those who have used double or single donors? I’ve no idea what to expect from this round. Everything purchased but awaiting next appointment with consultant to discuss the treatment this time x

Hi Happy. I hear of more couples going in for a double donation rather than embryo donation. I think it feels like baby is theirs rather than someone elses - that's what I have been told. I have quite a number of double donor babies in my baby albums, that have made perfect families. Just wanted to wish you both well, and I hope you increase the family you so hope to be. Diane
It felt like an enormous step when choosing the donors but now that part is done I’m feeling better about it….i just feel enormously grateful to these donors but might make it possible to extend our family.
The donors are both ID release so a child could find out more about them when they’re older and although similar looks came into it the choice ultimately was made around their profile and the type of person they are….both donors have children of their own already and became donors because they wanted to give others the chance of a family, something that has meant so much to them.
Of course there’s still so many things about it that seem scary and overwhelming at times but taking each day at a time x
We did donor eggs and the only thing I didn't consider was the possibility we wouldn't have many embryos. She had over 30 eggs but only made one good quality embryo. We ended up adopting an additional embryo so we'd have two to transplant. You just never know what's going to happen, but the odds are in your favor. We got pregnant on our first and only transfer. I love my baby girl more than word can describe. 💕 Good luck!
This is one of my worries, I’ve purchased 10 eggs between 2 donors. I’m hoping I get a couple of embryos to give a better chance. My own round of IVF I had 18 eggs (at 44 yr old) but only 2 made it to blastocysts and both were abnormal. This is my only chance financially so keeping everything crossed that it’ll work x
I am single and 45 and went double donor after many early losses with my own eggs. I bought frozen eggs and used frozen sperm (also both ID release) and am currently 10 weeks pregnant after my first transfer. Very best of luck to you and feel free to message if you have any questions xx
I’m in the same position. We have one biological after IVF, but after quite a few failed attempts for a sibling now ready to go for donor eggs. I was keen on double donors, but hubby is still uncomfortable (as women we at least get to carry the baby, he feels he’ll have no connection if no genetics - though I disagree ), so we’ll go with donor eggs for now and see how we get on! Quite excited and glad it’ll be a simpler process, at least physically if not emotionally 💪🍀🤞 x
Sat gazing into the eyes of one of my donor egg twin girls… couldn’t love them any more. Wouldn’t want to trade my girls for a baby made with my OE now. They are perfect 😍 feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Xx
