I'm just starting this journey, had some of the tests and waiting for consultation appointments. I've just joined this forum and finding it all tough to understand!
I'm 39. Never been pregnant. My baseline scan showed an AFC of 6, endometrium of 5mm and AMH 1.5. The nurse said these are low, but don't have anything to compare it to, so don't know what it means - very stressful!
I'm NHS so we've had long waits so far this year (and last year!) so now it's getting more real but less easy to understand or get a mental grip on (if that makes sense?) Everyone else I know has kids and it's difficult to talk to them -they're lovely and optimistic -which is great - but feels like they aren't getting what this is like.

Hi VikingMouse, It's really daunting when you start out and worth finding all the posts on here relating to low AMH. I don't think AFC of 6 is that bad for 39 - you only need 1 of those to work. AMH can fluctuate, but this number does seem low. A few people have tried DHEA to increase it, but you should probably check your levels first or get medical guidance. The book 'it starts with an egg' talks about this. You can get a home check through medichecks.
5mm lining might be OK depending on the timing of the scan, it's at transfer time that it counts. You want it to be a lot higher then and your doctor can tell you what they want it to be.
Hi, I was also 39 when I started. The tests just give an indication of the hormone doses that you may need to stimulate follicle growth. I was on the highest doses and the number of follicles produced which are likely to contain a mature egg vaguely follows the AFC. You only need one good egg. My son is from the only egg I had that fertilised normally. As the OP said, the lining depends on timing of scan - they should scan days 2-5 of your cycle when lining has just been shed anyway. They can treat appropriately to produce the lining they want for implantation. Good luck, stay in touch with the ladies on here, they got me through my IVF ride 😊
Once you start your treatment it will be tailored taking into account of your blood results etc as it is not one size fits all .This should all be explained to you once you start- be sure to ask lots of questions if there is anything you are unsure of .Good luck with your treatment
