Anyone got BFN 3 days before OTD and went on to get a BFP?

Am 12dp3dt & OTD is Tuesday.

So despite my best efforts not to test early....as it’s Sat night and my son is off to Grandmas for a sleepover well we decided what the hell....

Biggest regret ever as a BFN 😕 trying to convince ourselves it’s maybe too early or it’s the cheap Asda (freedom) tests my partner bought .... 2 for £1

Reviews online awful about these tests but mostly women saying they got false positives .....

Must admit had been using my Ovulation strips and getting strong second line these last few days. I have read they pick up hcg if strong enough and in past I put the theory to the test and alway had positive OPKs when pregnant so this gave me the confidence to try a HPT tonight.

I am also aware urine in morning much stronger. I took the sample at 12pm when the idea first entered my head and did the test about 6pm this evening.

Not using the pregnancy test kit from the clinic until Tuesday morning now as am far too scared to try again.

Hoping maybe late implantation as had a slight brown stringy discharge couple of times today & yesterday.

In actual turmoil now, was convincing myself all the signs were there 🙈

Just wondering has anything similar happened to anyone and went on to get a BFP on OTD ?

Definitely not a reliable result I’d say!! Old urine and not the most early detection tests 😂 Bless yous. It’s horrid when you just want to know!!

Use a FR tomorrow if you’ve got one! Or just save your pee in the morning and get one ASAP you’ll be killing yourself until Tuesday.

Phew .... I know I did wonder but 2ww makes you do crazy irrational things..

I do think it’s weird getting strong positive on my Ovulation strips.. this happened my last 2 BFPs. I know can’t rely on them but my research is they will pick up hcg if strong enough

We are allllll crazy during the TWW it makes us wild and and do and believe unimaginably wild things. If that’s worked for you last time then fair do’s why not now! All the best!

Took your advice got a clear blue test, tested this morning with first urine of the day. Unfortunately a BFN. It’s not over until Tuesday but at least got time to get my head around it being negative now as I honestly was thinking it was positive. Am 43 so aware my chances very low. May be time to stop throwing good money after bad 😕 x

aw no how frustrating but it sounds like it wouldn't be a reliable test. Id suggest buying a better quality test and using first thing in the morning if you can, hopefully that will give you a more accurate result.. everything crossed for a BFP xo

Thank you so much trying to erase that awful test out of my mind 🙈. Have read these cheapo ones can be really reliable however instructions say detect result after missed period so Defo not an early detection one ....

Hun your OTD is Tuesday so don’t say yet that is BFN .

Buy some extra test but better one then u bought and first thing in a morning do the test .

But please don’t give up yet because all your symptoms r very much good sign so please hold on till Tuesday. 🙏xx

Thanks hun never usually test early, my partner going back to work Monday and figured I needed to get my head around result whilst son not here. Was silly and has taught me not to early test and partner for a raging for buying a cheapo test 😂

Hey babe - I just POAS ONE day before OTD. Got a negative. Going for bloods tomorrow. But I've been asked to test earlier - 11DP3DT. Exactly 2 weeks from EC. Guess bloods will be definite. Still no new symptoms. Same sore boobs and cramps I've had whole way through IVF. Had beautiful dream before I woke up where I was having a scan and doctor said she could her two heartbeats. I'm back to school tomorrow so just keeping busy planning materials before my 6am alarm tomorrow. I'll do bloods in morning if I can sneak out and find out tomorrow or if too busy I'll go after work and know Tues am. Hang in there xxx

Hey so sorry you also had a BFN let’s hope it’s a case of late implantation for us both 🤞🏼 I have just done a clear blue early detection test using first urine of the day and got a BFN 😕 Will see what OTD brings hoping for a miracle now as feeling like it would be positive by now. My clinic don’t do bloods we have kept the test from them which is super sensitive. Feeling like why the hell did I test early but was not expecting this result 😕

I did the exact same thing and tested 3 days early ... I got a BFN and it was absolutely devastating. I took it as the end. Then two days later I became hopeful again and tested and got a very faint line. The following day I had my OTD bloods done and got my BFP. Hang in there x

Thanks feeling pretty crap, this morning just tried with first urine of the day using clear blue early detector test. BFN .... of course will take the result I get Tuesday as gospel but being realistic now. Your story is giving me hope, so glad you got your BFP. We don’t get bloods at my clinic just get early detector test from them x

I used a really cheap test a few days before my OTD and whilst there was a line it was so so faint I could barely see it. A lot of people say a test is a test but the cheap ones really aren’t accurate in my opinion. After my OTD (I was still driving myself crazy) I tested everyday almost sometimes with expensive tests and sometimes with the cheap ones and the results looked totally different. Thanks, I went out last night & bought a clear blue early detector test. Meant show accurate result 6 days before a missed period. This morning it was a BFN absolutely no trace of second line. Feeling like we would know by now so at least time to get my head around the result on Tues. 🙏🏻 for a miracle though will never give up hope just feeling .... why me x

I had BFN the day before my blood test day. Nearly didn't go for test as didn't see the point. I'm now 18 and a half weeks pregnant. Hope you have a good outcome too.

I've just tested 4 days early and got a BFN after our first round. Will do another test on otd. Reassured by the comments above. It's just so hard to wait. Wishing you loads of luck. X

Hi, wishing you ‘beginners luck’. My very first IVF go worked and we never tested until OTD. He is now 3...unfortunately been an absolute nightmare trying for his sibling. I now wish I didn’t test early, but like you said it’s so hard. 🤞🏼for us both x

Hey, I don't want to get your Hope's up but I know a couple of ladies that didnt get their BFP late on. My first BFP on my 5th transfer wasnt until 12dp5dt and it was faint on an FRER, I'm sure I have a pic on one of my old posts. I did eventually lose the pregnancy but we now think think was due to low pogerterone. Good luck.xx

Thanks Cinderella. It’s reassuring to know this. Tested negative this morning with clear blue early detection. Was still holding out hope until Tues. However just been to toilet and looking like start of AF 😕 pink blood .... at least I have my miracle son and count my lucky stars every day. Am so sorry as I know you have had so many knocks on your journey. How are things with you will you be trying again soon ? Am thinking perhaps getting second opinion or maybe even trying abroad it’s hard at 43 as I worry am throwing good money after bad x

I really hope it's not AF but hard not to worry when you see pink! Hopefully just a bit of spotting.🤞🏻 I'm doing ok thanks, it's all getting a bit tiring but got to be in it to win it I guess! We moved on to DE some time ago due to my age etc....I'm 41. Having better luck but we've had to tweak so many things to have gotten this far, just bad luck I guess. We're not allowed to try again for 3 months after our last CP/loss so looking at Nov which feels like ages away again! Good luck.xx

Hopefully but just feeling absolutely deflated. We had a failed cycle earlier this year as only got 1 egg. I convinced myself it was due to them changing me from gonal f to menopur. This cycle with gonal f got 5 eggs and they put 2 good quality embryos back in at 3 days.

Felt like this time we had a chance...

We may need to be realistic & look at the DE route now

Ahhh yes I remember you had a poor response to menopur. It's all a bit crap isn't it when you dont know what to do for the best! My clinic didn't do 3 day transfers when we did OE treatment. And by day 5 we were only getting 1 or 2 blastocysts. I asked our consultant honestly what out odds were using my OE and he said 5%. Bit of a shock but it made sense for us to move on to DE financially and all we want is to be a family, whichever way we could!xx

I tested on the Thursday is was negative, however 24 hours later, on official test date, result was positive.

Hi there, I appreciate this was last year but I just wandered. Did you do IVF when this happened? And what embryo did they transfer? I’ve just tested this morning with the clinic test, 10dp5dt and it’s negative. I went back to it a few hours later and theres the faintest of faint lines but easily can be an evap. Just looking for hope after being sent home from work in a mess x

Thanks so much my partner reminded me we are more fortunate than some as we have our 3 year old son. It’s beginning to feel like a real battle to produce him a sibling and have to admit feeling like I need to concentrate on my boy now as it is all getting too much. Sorry very emotional 😭

The best advice is not to test early. I tested 1 day early and tested BFN and then tested on the correct day and got BFP
